Travis Kelce Thinks It’s ‘So Surreal’ He Has Cameo in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ and Reveals Dad Also Does

Travis Kelce had the time of his life filming a brief scene in Happy Gilmore 2.
“Man, this life is crazy!! Still so surreal I got this opportunity,” Kelce, 35, wrote via Instagram on Friday, July 25. “@adamsandler SANDMAN!! Thank you brotha, for the opportunity and for giving us all Happy Gilmore 2! Everybody, go check it out right now!”
Kelce also shared a handful of behind-the-scenes snaps from set, including several with his dad, Ed. While the Kansas City Chiefs tight end wore his character’s waiter uniform, Ed donned a yellow blazer and tie like Happy (Sandler) wears for a dinner with other country club patrons. (In the film, Ed can briefly be seen dining behind Sandler’s character.)
The film and cameos even impressed the Kelces’ inner circle.
“LEGENDARY!!!,” Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes commented on Travis’ post.
Travis’ older brother, Jason Kelce, also thoroughly enjoyed the flick.
“Man, 10 minutes into Happy Gilmore 2,” Jason, 37, wrote via X on Friday. “Absolutely devastating start! How could anyone recover from that?”
Not one to be outdone, Happy Gilmore 2 also earned rave reviews from Travis’ girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
“Happy Gilmore 2 had me cackling and cheering the whole movie!” Swift, 35, wrote via her Instagram Stories, sharing the movie poster. “An absolute must watch 13/10, go watch it on @netflix as soon as humanely possible. 🍯.”
The honey emoji is likely a subtle nod to Travis’ shirtless scene. In a dream sequence, Oscar (Bad Bunny) imagines his “happy place,” which happens to include slathering Travis’ character in honey.
“You told [him] that was on me, man? You threw me under the bus? Why, so you could be the hero? You took the knife and stabbed me in my back,” Travis quipped. “I can’t work like this. Watching my six. You mess around, you find out.”
Once Travis’ character fires Oscar, he imagines his so-called “happy place.” Oscar fantasizes about tying up Kelce, who is only wearing an apron around his waist, and dumping honey on him.
“What is this? Is this about the job? Come on,” Travis adds.
Travis had been in disbelief about appearing in the follow-up to Sandler’s 1996 movie, Happy Gilmore.
“I thought SNL was going to be the peak of my acting and showman or entertainment career,” Travis said on the Pat McAfee Show in January. “Working with Happy Gilmore himself, the Sandman and Happy Productions, it was off the chain.”
Sandler, meanwhile, has also praised Travis’ acting chops.
“We were talking about you playing my son while we were writing it, literally, like, six months ago,” Sandler said while appearing on Travis’ “New Heights” podcast last year. “We were like, ‘Imagine if Travis was my first baby, how funny that would be. Just a badass.’”
Happy Gilmore 2 is streaming on Netflix.
