Jacob Elordi has marked his first event appearance since his split from Olivia Jade Giannulli.

The 28-year-old actor walked the red carpet at the Venice International Film Festival on Saturday, Aug. 30, during the world premiere of his newest film, Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.

Elordi was photographed leaving the Excelsior Hotel and heading to the annual event by boat, where he flashed a peace sign at onlookers.

He then posed on the red carpet, wearing an all-white ensemble that he complemented with black shoes.

A source told PEOPLE earlier this month that Elordi and Giannulli, 25, had broken up, after dating on and off since 2021. The pair first sparked dating rumors late that year, when they were seen having coffee together in L.A. one month after Elordi’s split from Kaia Gerber.

At the time, PEOPLE sources shared conflicting reports on Elordi and Giannulli’s relationship status, with one insider saying they were “casually dating” and another denying they were an item.

The duo reportedly called it quits in August 2022, but later reconciled and were seen vacationing together in Italy in June 2023. They were also spotted spending time the following month on Lake Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, with Giannulli’s parents Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli.

In July 2023, PEOPLE confirmed that Elordi and Giannulli were officially back together — with a source stating at the time that they were “getting serious.”

News of the Euphoria actor’s recent split from influencer Giannulli came amid months of speculation about the now-former couple’s relationship status, and a year and a half after multiple sources told PEOPLE that they were still going strong in January 2024.

Giannulli seemed to hint that they were still an item in April after liking an Instagram post from the actor’s sister Isabella Elordi about his project The Narrow Road to the Deep North, per E! News.

Elordi’s latest project sees him as the monster of mad scientist Victor Frankenstein (Oscar Isaac). The cast also includes Mia Goth, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Charles Dance and Christoph Waltz.

According to a logline from Netflix, Isaac’s Dr. Frankenstein is a “brilliant but egotistical scientist who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.”

To get fully into character, Elordi underwent 10 hours in the makeup chair on a daily basis, as an Aug. 20 profile on the horror film in Variety reported.

“You throw time away when you make a film like this,” Elordi said. “I stopped having a clock, and I would just wait till the SUV arrived. That meant it was time to go. I didn’t do breakfast, lunch or dinner, or think in terms of morning, afternoon, night. It was just one time.”

The Venice International Film Festival runs through Sept. 6, while Frankenstein is in theaters Oct. 17 and on Netflix Nov. 7.
