The Office Stars Reunite in Rare Selfie at the US Open

It was all love at the US Open men’s final for the cast of The Office.

The Office stars Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak sat together for the final match between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Sunday, Sept. 7.

On Instagram Stories, Kaling, 46, joked that she was with her “two best friends” — Novak and Bruce Springsteen, who was sitting in front of them. Novak, 46, also shared an iconic reunion selfie to his Instagram of him, Kaling and Rainn Wilson, who was also in attendance. “Photobomed by @rainnwilson,” the actor wrote.

On The Office, Wilson, 59, played intense Dunder Mifflin salesman Dwight Schrute. Kaling and Novak, who were also writers and later producers on the show, played Kelly Kapoor and Ryan Howard, respectively. Both were with the show when it premiered in 2005, left at the beginning of season nine, and returned for the series finale, which aired in 2013. Wilson was with the series for all nine seasons.

The Office star John Krasinski, who played Jim Halpert, was also in attendance at Sunday’s final with wife Emily Blunt.

Kaling and Novak became incredibly close friends during their time on The Office and had, for a time, an on-again, off-again romantic relationship that ended in 2007. He is godfather to Kaling’s children, and she often shares photos of Novak spending time with the kids on Instagram.

When Kaling received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in February, she called Novak an “important and integral part of my family. In return, he called her “an incredible mother of three.”

During Sunday’s match, Alcaraz, 22, defeated Sinner in four sets, securing his second US Open championship and his sixth Grand Slam over all. Kaling was also at the French Open men’s final in June, where Alcaraz beat Sinner in the longest final in French Open history.

Kaling also shared a video on Instagram reviewing everything she ate and drank at the N.Y.C. event, including the famed Honey Deuce, caviar chicken nuggets and waffle fries.

Back in March, Ellie Kemper, who played Erin on The Office, told PEOPLE that the show’s cast is “very much connected still.”

“There’s such a strong bond there,” she said of the cast and crew of the show, which she joined in season 5. “I talk to Jenna [Fischer], Angela [Kinsey], Mindy and Kate Flannery pretty regularly, and it’s just nice.”

“My gosh, what a blessing to be able to have those friendships,” Kemper, 45, said, adding that there’s an active group text thread and many emails that fly back and forth amongst the former costars.
