Dispatch audio from Diane Keaton’s death reveals ‘person down’ at LA home
Diane Keaton was taken away from her Los Angeles home by ambulance on Saturday, and dispatch audio to the fire department revealed there was a “person down.”
In audio from the call obtained by TMZ, the dispatcher said, “Rescue 19, person down” before revealing the actress’ address.
The Los Angeles Fire Department went to the “Annie Hall” actress’ home at 8:08 a.m. ET on Saturday and one person was take to a local hospital, according to TMZ. Insiders revealed that person was Keaton.
People confirmed later that day that the legendary “Godfather” actress passed away at the age of 79 in California. However, a cause of death has not been revealed.
Her rep didn’t immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment on the news, but a family spokesperson told People that her “loved ones have asked for privacy.”
The “Family Stone” star — who never married but had high-profile romances with Woody Allen, Al Pacino and Warren Beatty — became a mother in 1996 and 2001, respectively, when she adopted daughter Dexter, now 29, and son Duke, now 25.
“Motherhood was not an urge I couldn’t resist, it was more like a thought I’d been thinking for a very long time. So I plunged in,” she explained to Ladies’ Home Journal in 2008 of becoming a single mother in her 50s.
Keaton looked happy in her final Instagram photo. However, a friend of the actress told People “she declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her.”
The “Something’s Gotta Give” star’s rapid decline was “unexpected,” the friend added.
“In her final months, she was surrounded only by her closest family, who chose to keep things very private. Even longtime friends weren’t fully aware of what was happening.”
Friends started becoming more aware of the situation after the Oscar winner listed her “dream home” in Los Angeles for $29 million, despite previously saying she planned to remain there permanently, People reported.
A source also told the outlet Keaton was often seen walking her dog, Reggie, around her Brentwood neighborhood, but was not spotted for the past couple of months.
“She loved her neighborhood,” the source said. “Up until just a few months ago, she’d walk her dog every day. She was usually dressed the same, with a hat and her signature sunglasses regardless of the weather.”
“She was always very nice, funny and chatty,” the source continued. “She’d talk to her dog like he was a person. She was eccentric and had this old-school Hollywood aura. She was very, very special.”
