Keith Urban gives private performance at Mar-a-Lago party attended by President Trump
Keith Urban gave a private performance at a Mar-a-Lago party attended by President Trump over the weekend.
At Saturday’s bash, hosted by Australian billionaire Anthony Pratt, the country singer belted out Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” and Bob Marley’s “Is This Love.”
Snippets of his “great” performance were shared via Instagram by an attendee.
Trump, 79, was spotted sitting beside Pratt at the event.
Social media users expressed mixed feelings over the Grammy winner’s presence at the party, with some celebrating the link to Trump and others feeling “sickened.”
Reps for Urban and Roan did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
Roan’s “Pink Pony Club,” notably, was inspired by The Abbey, a famous gay bar in West Hollywood, Calif.
Urban gushed on “Intimate and Interactive” in April that he “almost cried” first hearing the song, explaining, “Who doesn’t want to find a safe place, wherever that is? You just want to find your people — doesn’t matter what that is, just somewhere where you finally realize you belong there.”
The songwriter, who has not publicly shared his political leanings, was asked in 2017 whether he would perform at the White House while Trump was president.
“I would like to probably answer that question when it comes up, but I’m a citizen, and I like to do what’s right,” Urban said at the time, per The Hill.
Seven years later, the musician declined to endorse a presidential candidate as Trump faced off against former Vice President Kamala Harris.
“I’m often amazed that people don’t look to artists’ work — they’re pretty clear on who they are and their views, and I’m no different,” he told The Times in 2024.
“I play to extremely diverse audiences in every way, politically and pronoun, age groups, ethnicity,” the guitarist pointed out.
At the time, Urban was married to Nicole Kidman, who has also remained tight-lipped about politics.
The actress explained to BBC News in 2017 that she feels “reticent” to talk about the subject because she is an “issue-based” voter.
The “Big Little Lies” star, 58, and Urban made headlines in September for calling it quits after 19 years of marriage and two children together.
Kidman hinted at trouble in paradise during a recent Vogue interview when she wondered, “How many times do you have to be taught that you think you know where your life is going and then it isn’t going in that direction?”
She and Urban have yet to publicly address their breakup.
