What Dax Shepard really thinks of Cher insisting Kristen Bell deserves better
He’s Cher-ing his thoughts.
Dax Shepard wasn’t offended when Cher expressed in an interview that Kristen Bell deserves a better husband.
Shepard said that he and Bell “both expected” Cher to have that opinion in an interview with “Access Hollywood” at the 2026 Golden Globes Sunday.
“That’s why you love Cher, which couldn’t be greater,” he added.
The “Hit & Run” actor explained that he and his wife thought Cher’s comments were “hysterical.”
He also told “Entertainment Tonight” on Sunday that Cher’s hot-take on his marriage was “so good.”
“We kept it in because it was great,” he said, then joked that Bell served him divorce papers after hearing Cher’s thoughts.
Shepard believes the “Believe” singer’s words were taken too seriously by the public.
“The internet is a dangerous place,” he said.
Last week, Cher appeared on Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast for a conversation with him, co-host Monica Padman and his wife.
Shepard asked Cher who she thinks would make a “dream partner” for Bell, explaining, “’Cause I know you think she could be better, and I don’t disagree.”
Cher, 79, didn’t provide an answer but admitted, “The truth is, I trust her. So you must have something that I don’t see.”
Shepard agreed with the pop icon, telling her he “understand[s] nobody’s good enough” for Bell.
However, Shepard told Cher that he isn’t threatened by Bell’s successes, saying, “[I] Love it. The shinier she gets, the better.”
Bell interjected with her own thoughts on her relationship with Shepard, explaining that he is a “slow burn” and “almost too good” for her.
Cher did give Shepard credit for his parenting skills. He and Bell share two daughters: Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 11.
“You seem like a good dad,” Cher said.
Bell and Cher have known each other since they filmed 2010’s “Burlesque.”
At the time, Bell, 45, and Shepard, 51, were engaged. They tied the knot in 2013.
Shepard’s relationship with Bell made headlines after the “Frozen” voice actress made a tone-deaf comment on their wedding anniversary last October.
“Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would.’ ❤️,” she wrote in an Instagram post at the time.
She was called out by internet users for posting the message during domestic violence awareness month.
Bell did not react to the backlash, though a video resurfaced of Shepard joking about hitting her.
