Bachelor Nation’s Madi Prewett Explains Why She Loves ‘Fasting’ for Periods of Time

Bachelor Nation alum Madi Prewett is detailing her relationship with food — and undergoing brief dietary fasts.

“I think, for me personally, food was always a comfort or a convenient thing, like, I did what was convenient — or I would go to it for comfort or for pleasure,” Prewett, 29, said on the Monday, January 12, episode of her “Stay True” podcast. “Even when I think about the whole following Jesus, it’s, like, ‘Deny your flesh [and] crucify your flesh.’ I think you can think about that even in terms of food.”

She continued, “There are things that my flesh desires [like] Krispy Kreme donuts, but I know that’s probably not going to be the most God-glorifying thing that I can do in this moment.”

Instead of always feeding her desires with food, Prewett has started taking up fasting.

“Part of the reason I love fasting is because it’s this beautiful combination of starving your flesh and feeding your spirit,” she said. “It’s not just saying, ‘I’m going to withhold myself from food but it’s, like, ‘I’m going to fill myself with the word of God and with prayer and with taking time … instead of taking this time to cook and eat, I’m going to spend this time in the Bible.’”

In addition to her fasts, Prewett also follows an “ancient nutrition” style of meals.

“I’ve also been on the ancient nutrition collagen bone broth protein powder,” she said, referring to podcast guest Dr. Josh Axe’s recipe in his The Biblio Diet book. “I’ve been putting it in my smoothies in the mornings, and it’s been so good.”

Prewett has previously been outspoken about her body image, once revealing her struggles started after coming off The Bachelor in 2020.

“It was traumatizing. I lost, like, 20 pounds,” she said on the “Unplanned” podcast in August 2025. “I can’t even remember what aired and what [didn’t]. Y’all, I don’t even know if I watched my season all the way through, I’ll be very honest. I very much removed myself from all things Bachelor. Even to this day, I really don’t talk about it a ton.”

The Bachelor alum Madi Prewett has found her role within marriage. “I learned a lot about being a submissive wife, [which] was a challenge for me at first,” Prewett, 29, said on the Monday, December 1, episode of her “Stay True” podcast, discussing her journey as Grant Troutt’s wife. “Now, it’s, like, my favorite thing. […]

Season 24 Bachelor Peter Weber proposed to Hannah Ann Sluss during the finale, only to break up with her days later to pursue finalist Prewett. Weber, now 34, and Prewett’s rekindled romance only lasted for a few days. She moved on with now-husband Grant Troutt in 2021, tying the knot less than one year later. Prewett and Troutt, 29, welcomed daughter Hosanna in January 2025.

Going through pregnancy and childbirth also affected Prewett’s body image.

“It really changes everything about life and your body,” she admitted on a July 2025 episode of her podcast. “My skin’s been breaking out more, I’m in the thick of it with losing my hair [and] just all the stuff.”

Despite feeling self-conscious about her postpartum appearance, Prewett hopes her daughter never feels that same way.

“I just got so convicted because I was, like, ‘Wait, I tell you all the time that your beauty comes from the lord and that your beauty is what is within you and that charm is deceptive,’” she noted. “[I] speak that over her all the time, and … it’s so important to model for your children who you want them to be and what you want them to do. Yes, words are important, but children are going to watch what you do before they listen to what you say.”
