Sydney Sweeney missing from ‘Euphoria’ cast photo in wake of Zendaya feud speculation
Sydney Sweeney was glaringly absent from a group photo with the female cast members of “Euphoria” in a new teaser for the show.
HBO Max released a short teaser Wednesday for the show’s third season, out April 12, featuring behind-the-scenes footage of the cast.
At the start of the clip, Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie and Maude Apatow were seen laughing and posing together for a photo shoot, but Sweeney was noticeably missing.
Sweeney did appear in the teaser, though it was a solo shot of her smiling.
Jacob Elordi was also featured briefly in the video.
The video was captioned, “Taking the smallest moments and dreaming them up into something bigger. #Euphoria.”
The Daily Mail reported in November 2025 that Sweeney and Zendaya were “locked in a bitter feud” that stemmed from their differing political views.
Sweeney is a registered Republican voter and caused controversy with her American Eagle denim campaign that some critics accused of being Nazi propaganda with racist undertones.
Zendaya reportedly refused to do press with Sweeney, and the two also refused to stand next to each other at events.
An insider told the outlet, “It’s a difficult position for Zendaya to be in because if she even stands next to Sydney on the red carpet, it can be read as her excusing Sydney’s views on Trump and her refusal to apologise for the racist ad.”
Fans took notice of Sweeney’s absence from the group shot in the new teaser, with one Instagram comment reading, “the girls really said we are NOT doing a group shot with her 😂.”
Another comment said, “omg obsessed with sydney being absent from the girls group shot ❤️.”
“The less sydney the better 🥰,” another user chimed in.
Sweeney addressed her “MAGA Barbie” nickname back in January.
“I’ve never been here to talk about politics,” she told Cosmopolitan “I’ve always been here to make art, so this is just not a conversation I want to be at the forefront of.”
“And I think because of that, people want to take it even further and use me as their own pawn,” she continued. “But it’s somebody else assigning something to me, and I can’t control that.”
Sweeney insisted she wasn’t a “hateful” person and said there was “no winning” when it comes to addressing politically charged things about herself.
“I just have to continue being who I am, because I know who I am,” she said. “I can’t make everyone love me. I know what I stand for.”
