Syndey Sweeney insists she doesn’t ‘actually need a man’ months after last Scooter Braun outing

Sydney Sweeney insisted that she doesn’t “actually need a man” after she and Scotter Braun haven’t been seen together in two months.

While speaking to Cosmopolitan on Thursday about what she looks for in a man, she declared, “Look, I am a boss in my life. I take control. I go after what I want. I am confident, and I am successful, and I don’t actually need a man.”

The “Euphoria” star, 28, continued, “I’ve got myself. I’ve got an incredible group of girlfriends. I’ve got a team of badass women. That is very intimidating to a lot of guys, so a guy needs to be able to stand in that with me.”

She then reflected that it “takes a very specific person who can handle the world that comes with” her before talking about a guy who she “really, really liked” but ended it because, in his own words, he “couldn’t handle [her] world.”

“It’s a hard thing,” she noted before candidly revealing a conversation with her mom.

“The other day, my mom and I were talking about guys, and I was like, ‘Well, he’s not really my type.’”

It was then that her mom, Lisa, told her, “Well, maybe your type’s not working out for you, Syd.”

The “White Lotus” then reflected, “Maybe I need to be open to other experiences and try not to put everything in this exact box of what I think I need.”

Despite her being open to new types of men, she does have some non-negotiables.

Sweeney told the outlet that she looks for someone “athletic and outgoing and funny.”

“I’m a sporty girl, so someone needs to be able to climb a mountain with me, go skydiving with me,’ she explained before pointing out that she also wants someone “who loves their family.”

In her conversation with the outlet, Sweeney made a rare comment about her past relationship with ex Jonathan Davino.

“I was in a relationship for a very long time, for seven and a half years, and I never talked about it. I was very private,” she said.

“No one would ever see us. I think it’s important to have some things for myself.”

Sweeney and Davino, 42, got engaged in 2022 before calling it off three years later.

In August 2025, she was then linked to Braun, 44, when the two were spotted spending time together in Italy after Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding.

After a series of public dates, the couple was last seen together in November when they went on a bike ride together in California before jetting off to the Florida Keys.

Although the two have not been seen together since, a source told People in December that the two were “getting serious.”
