Emily in Paris’ Lucas Bravo Addresses Gabriel’s Absence Before Return: ‘He Just Wanted to Be Desired’ (Exclusive)
Lucas Bravo addressed Gabriel’s absence from Emily in Paris before his return in season 6.
Bravo, 38, joked about his character playing a larger role in the upcoming season after missing several episodes, exclusively telling Us Weekly on Friday, April 10, at a PaleyFest event, “He just wanted to be desired, so he took a little step back.”
The actor said he’s excited to dive back into Gabriel’s arc.
“It was good [because] it leaves more space for other stories to be told,” he noted. “I feel like Gabriel needed a little breather and now he’s coming back in the sun — in Greece — and it’s gonna be a fun season.”
Bravo rose to fame playing Gabriel on Emily in Paris when it debuted in 2020. The show follows an American named Emily (Lily Collins) who moves to Paris for a job and ends up in several love triangles with Gabriel.
When season 5 aired in December 2025, Bravo was noticeably missing from several episodes before returning at the end as Gabriel wrote a letter to Emily about them reuniting in Greece.
“All we know is that we’re going to Greece and Monaco,” Bravo told Us. “We have no script. I have no idea. I do want them to be happy and in love because they’ve been working on it for six or seven years now.”
He continued: “I hope it happens. I think some people want that, but whoever Emily ends up with will be the perfect choice because she knows better.”
Bravo also weighed in on Bryan Greenberg making an appearance in season 5 as Emily’s love interest Jake, adding, “I love Jake — that’s an actor I’ve been I love for a long time. Seeing him joining the Emily in Paris family was huge. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to meet him on set, but I hope he makes a comeback in season 6.”
With Emily’s love life remaining a focal point on the show, director and executive producer Andrew Fleming urged viewers not to give up hope.
“The eternal question, the question for the ages,” he teased about Emily and Gabriel’s possible reunion. “I can confirm that Lucas Bravo will be on the show. So make of that what you will.”
Fleming previously hinted how the hit Netflix series will keep exploring the fictional romance, telling Us in December 2025, “He’s important. He’s part of the DNA of the show. When he and Emily are in a scene together, something undefinable happens. They have this chemistry. They do. There’s just something about the two of them that’s very watchable.”
He continued: “Looking ahead, they’re part of each other’s journey. Who is to say who Emily is going to end up with, but Emily and Gabriel are going to interact with each other. Stuff is going to happen, [but] I really can’t say anything about what’s going to happen next season.”
Emily in Paris is currently streaming on Netflix.
