Inside Howard Stern’s ex-staffers’ severance battle after brutal layoffs
Many of Howard Stern’s former employees are reportedly fighting for more severance after getting laid off earlier this month.
Stern laid off around a dozen staffers from his SiriusXM show, Page Six previously reported, because he’s preparing to drop to just one new show a week after Labor Day.
But many of the now-unemployed staffers declined the severance package offer of just about one week of pay per year worked, instead, pushing for more money, the US Sun reported Thursday.
A source also told the outlet that not everyone signed the NDA that was attached to their packages, and are negotiating their exits.
However, another insider said some workers are now “feeling OK” about their final packages after negotiating with HR execs.
Page Six reached out to a rep for Stern, but didn’t immediately receive a response back.
Stern, 72, signed a new contract in December 2025 to remain on the air for another three years, which he said would give him more “flexibility.”
We were told Stern kept a core team of veteran producers amid the brutal layoffs, but “just doesn’t need that much content anymore.”
The media personality said he was happy with the new contract on “The Howard Stern Show,” telling listeners, “I am happy to announce that I have figured out a way to have it all.”
“More free time and continuing to be on the radio,” he added.
“I do like my days off. You know me, I’m never bored. I’m busy every minute.”
At least one ex-staffer is approaching the brutal layoff with humor. Former “Howard Stern Show” staffer Jon Blitt trolled fans last week by sharing a video of himself at his “new” job at Old Navy.
“It’s different than my last job, but it’s a job, and the first thing I learned is ABF, ‘Always Be Folding,’” he joked, referencing Alec Baldwin’s “ABC: Always Be Closing” line from the film “Glengarry Glen Ross.”
At the end of the clip, Blitt jokingly asked a customer, “Hi, can I help you?”
He tagged the video #newbeginning.
