‘SNL’ alum Cecily Strong shares her morning must-haves
Ever wonder what your favorite celebrities buy when they’re browsing their favorite boutique or shopping online late at night? Welcome to Six Picks, where we ask stars to spill their style and beauty must-haves — so you can shop like you’re famous, too.
As the longest-running female “SNL” cast member, Cecily Strong is practically a professional night owl.
But these days, as a new mom “happily working away” on multiple TV projects, the comedian is turning over a new leaf as a morning person — or at least, she’s trying to.
“Hopefully, in 21 days, I will be fully transformed into a better person,” Strong quipped to Page Six Style.
For now, she’s parodying several “morning person” archetypes in her new campaign for Thomas’ English muffins — a return to form for the comedy mastermind behind beloved “Saturday Night Live” characters like The Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started a Conversation With at a Party and Cathy Anne. (“Cathy Anne is always inside of me on any given day; she’s like a comfortable pair of pajamas on drugs,” Strong joked.)
But when it comes to her a.m. routine, Strong’s not channeling anyone but herself. Below, she spills all of her essentials for starting the day strong, from her go-to tea to the serum she discovered through her dermatologist.
“I try to do a good sunblock. Right now, I’ve been using Beauty of Joseon. Anytime someone online says, ‘This is a great Korean sunblock,’ I usually go [for that].”
“I have a lip balm that I really like, this Ole Henriksen peptide balm. I’ve bought like four of those.”
“I love my dermatologist and she recommended [this]. I’m always trying to pick her brain, but I don’t think she has all the time in the day to text me. She’s a very busy woman, and I’m like, ‘Please, tell me more. Why do you look the way you look?’ I feel like Ursula. I’m trying to get it out of her.”
“I usually put on this AlphaRet under-eye cream [in the morning].”
“I love a Red Label black tea with milk and sugar.”
“I am a fan organically. Actually, when my agent sent me this offer I was like, ‘You’re not going to believe this.’ I sent them a picture of my fridge to show that I have my English muffins currently in the fridge, because that was already my morning routine.”
