Romance Publisher Harlequin to Release 28 Book-to-Film Adaptations Over the Next Three Years

Harlequin is hitting the screen!
On Thursday, Oct 10, the romance publisher announced that it will be teaming up with the independent production company Centinel Media to release up to 28 movies and series over a span of three years starting in 2025.
The movies will be “uplifting romantic entertainment” adapted from a selection of Harlequin books with the intent to create “one cinematic universe,” according to a press release.
Six titles are set to be adapted in 2025, including Savvy Sheldon Feels Good as Hell by Taj McCoy, The Dachshund Wears Prada by Stefanie London, Sweet on You by Carla de Guzman, Second-Guessing Fate by Claire Robyns, Ordinary Girl in a Tiara by Jessica Hart. There will also be a film inspired by the Montana Mavericks series.
McCoy, whose book was published in 2022, celebrated the news in a recent Instagram post. “Remember that blessings come even when it storms, and while there’s not a whole lot to share just yet, SAVVY is coming!!” she wrote.
London also shared her excitement on Instagram and said she’s “beyond thrilled” about the upcoming adaptation. She expressed her gratitude for her readers, writing, “So many of you have read his book and told me you thought it would make a great romcom movie, and I’m thrilled that this dream is becoming a reality. It’s a total bucket list career item.”
“Thank you to all the readers who’ve picked bought a copy of this book,” she continued. “It shows the publishers and others involved that you believe in this story. You have no idea what a difference that makes when it comes to deciding which stories get these exciting opportunities.”
Centinel’s founder and CEO Craig Cegielski will serve as the executive producer for the new works, alongside Centinel COO Susan Oman Gross and Harlequin EVP and publisher Brent Lewis.
“Our partnership with Harlequin has been a rewarding collaboration as we bring incredible love stories from the page to screen,” said Cegielski in a statement. “Together we’re working toward launching films and series that will captivate new fans and reward the loyal readers who return to Harlequin time and time again.”
