Angelina Jolie Reveals Daughter Vivienne, 15, Is the Family’s Biggest Theater Fan (Exclusive)
Although Angelina Jolie is producing The Outsiders, she tells PEOPLE that her daughter Vivienne claims the title of biggest “theater head” in their family.
At the April 11 premiere of the new Broadway musical, Jolie, 48, revealed that her 15-year-old daughter was very present during the production.
When asked who is their family’s “biggest theater head,” the Academy Award winner immediately confirms it is the teenager. “Viv. Definitely Viv,” says Jolie, as The Outsiders book and score creator Justin Levine adds, “Definitely Viv.”
“Hands down,” says the mother of six. “She’ll correct me. She’ll say, ‘Didn’t you read the memo? We have to do this, we have to go through this.’ ”
“She’s been a really tough assistant,” jokes the actress. “She takes it very, very seriously.”
Vivienne also attended the show’s premiere on April 11 with her mother. Jolie posed with her daughter as well as the show’s cast on the red carpet at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.

The upcoming show is the new stage adaptation of S. E. Hinton’s beloved 1967 coming-of-age novel. The story was previously adapted nearly 40 years ago by director Francis Ford Coppola and screenwriter Kathleen Rowell. C. Thomas Howell, Patrick Swayze, Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, Ralph Macchio, Tom Cruise and more starred in the 1983 film adaptation.
The new show stars Brody Grant as Ponyboy Curtis, Brent Comer as Darrel Curtis, Jason Schmidt as Sodapop “Soda” Curtis, Sky Lakota-Lynch as Johnny Cade, Daryl Tofa as Keith “Two-Bit Mathews” and Joshua Boone as Dallas “Dally” Winston.
The story follows brothers Ponyboy, Darrel, Sodapop “Soda,” and their group of friends after the death of the Curtis brothers’ parents in Tulsa, Okla., during the 1960s.
Jolie previously told PEOPLE that she was inspired to make the new musical because she felt “so strongly about this material and this creative team.”
“It’s been a privilege to be a part of the process,” added Jolie. “I have so much respect for Broadway and all who work within.”
“I’ve been in the theater watching as the first reactions came in, including the often very emotional reaction from young people,” revealed the actress. “It’s very moving.”
The producer also shared that “it was a dream to work with this very dedicated and extremely talented cast,” adding, “Brilliant singers, dancers and actors all of them. They all work so unbelievably hard.”
After a month of previews, the production officially opened on Thursday, April 11.
Tickets for The Outsiders are on sale now at outsidersmusical.com.
