Angel Reese Responds to Online Troll Criticizing Her Rookie WNBA Performance
Angel Reese has no time for internet trolls, as she recently fired back at an online commenter who criticized her performance on the court. Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), the Chicago Sky player responded to an initial post that slammed her layups throughout her rookie WNBA season.
“U realize u can’t make a lay up on the first try most times, right?,” the user posted on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
“Do you realize I got drafted 7th in my class while ‘missing layups’ as a ROOKIE shooting 39% on the year & was STILL a all star and that was the worst you’ll ever see me??? or you just laid up with your dog at home hating Adam??” Reese, 22, posted minutes later.
Since she was selected by the Sky during the 2024 WNBA Draft in April, the former LSU star had a record-breaking rookie season. Per ESPN, Reese became the first rookie in league history to rack up a triple-double.
The first-year standout also became the fastest player in league history to score 20 double-doubles, a feat she accomplished in just 27 games, according to Sports Illustrated. Reese averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds.
In September, Reese was sidelined for the remainder of the WNBA season after sustaining a wrist injury. The player posted on X that “all I have ever wanted was to come into the W and have an impact. I can confidently say that I have done that and will strive to keep doing so.”

“What a year. I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol,” she wrote.
Reese continued, adding, “Through it all, I have showed that I belong in this league even when no one else believed… I’m filled with emotions right now that I have a season ending injury, but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next.”
