Allison Williams is cheering on her former Girls costar Chris Abbott as he prepares to become a father with girlfriend Aubrey Plaza.

“I just saw that. It’s so exciting!” Williams, 38, told E! News on Wednesday, April 15. “I’m very excited for them, it’s going to be amazing. … Just anyone I find out is having a baby, I get excited for that.”

Williams, who shares son Arlo, 4, with husband Alexander Dreymon, also shared some parenting advice for Abbott, 40, and Plaza, 41 — which was to not let anyone give advice at all.

“Don’t listen to anyone,” she said. “Trust your instincts. People have been doing this for as long as there have been people, so just trust your instincts, call your friends, reach out, let a stranger hold your baby so you can pee, you know.”

Plaza’s rep confirmed her pregnancy to People on April 7. A source told the outlet that Plaza is due to give birth “this fall,” adding that the actress and Abbott “feel very blessed.”

The pair’s baby news comes more than one year after Plaza’s late husband, Jeff Baena, died by suicide at age 47 in January 2025. (It was later revealed that Plaza and Baena had quietly separated in September 2024.)

Plaza broke her silence on her pregnancy during the Monday, April 13, episode of the “SmartLess” podcast.

“Well, there’s a baby inside of me,” she told hosts Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes. “Today was a big day. I went to the doctor’s today, and my dog also went to the doctor’s. Both of us — my dog’s getting a scan right now. I got a scan earlier. I’m not kidding.”

Plaza continued, “She had to get an ultrasound on her stomach. And then I got an ultrasound on my stomach, and there is a baby in there.”

Celebrities are speaking out and voicing their heartbreak and support for Aubrey Plaza following the untimely passing of her husband, Jeff Baena. “No words can touch this painful time,” actress Selma Blair wrote on Plaza’s most recent Instagram post on Saturday, January 4. “Only love and strength and support from everyone. I am so sorry.” […]

Plaza added that she’s “excited” to be a first-time mom.

“I’ve always wanted to see what that’s all about, you know?” she said. “It just seems so interesting, that whole thing.”

While it’s unclear exactly when Plaza’s romance with Abbott began, the pair previously worked together in the 2020 film Black Bear and the Off-Broadway production of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea in 2023.

As for her relationship with Baena, Plaza dated the filmmaker for more than a decade before they privately tied the knot in 2021.

Plaza’s rep called Baena’s death an “unimaginable tragedy” in a statement to Us Weekly last year.

“We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support,” the statement continued. “Please respect our privacy during this time.”
