Andy Cohen Explains Why Teresa and Melissa’s Reunion Wasn’t Filmed for ‘RHONJ’ Season 15 (Exclusive)

According to Andy Cohen, there’s no rush to announce the return of The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

While speaking to Us Weekly exclusively at BravoCon 2025 in Las Vegas on Friday, November 14, Cohen, 57, hinted at the timeline for any updates on when the fan-favorite franchise will pick up for its 15th season. “When it’s right,” he said.

One major factor for the delay was the tension between Teresa Giudice and her sister-in-law, Melissa Gorga, whose ups and downs have been a central story line throughout the series.

“That’s one of the reasons we didn’t pick cameras up,” he explained, noting that fans have seen the family make up and break up time and again. “They have to do this for themselves. It should have nothing to do with us.”

The Real Housewives of New Jersey franchise has seen many of its stars leave the world behind over the years — and Us Weekly is taking a trip down memory lane and checking in on where they are now. OG cast member Caroline Manzo left the show in 2014, and years later, opened up about […]

As for the recent reunion between the women and their husbands — Us confirmed earlier this month that the Gorgas met with Teresa, 53, and Luis Ruelas for lunch in New Jersey — Cohen said, “We’ll see how it plays out.”

RHONJ had been on an indefinite hiatus since season 14 — starring Teresa, Melissa, Dolores Catania, Jennifer Aydin, Margaret Josephs, Rachel Fuda, Danielle Cabral, Jackie Goldschneider and Jennifer Fessler — ended in August 2024 with most of the cast on bad terms. The reunion was even canceled because several stars wouldn’t — or couldn’t — be in the same room together.

The following December, Cohen told Us that fans would be waiting at least a “year” before they received an update on the show’s status.

Months later, Us reported in February that no casting decisions had been made yet. “All of them have been in contact with production but not with any news,” a source told Us at the time. “There’s still an open line of communication but no news [regarding] who is coming back or who is not coming back.”

Not all Real Housewives give up their diamonds — or peaches/apples — for good. Bethenny Frankel, NeNe Leakes and Dina Manzo are among the ladies who left their respective franchises only to return years later. While Bethenny, NeNe and Dina all returned in a full-time role, other women, including Camille Grammer and Danielle Staub, made […]

According to the insider, production wanted “the show to come back” and was willing to “see how they can make it work.”

Bravo confirmed to Us at the time that “no decisions [had] been made around casting for RHONJ.”

While official decisions have yet to be made, Us exclusively revealed in September that Bravo was working on casting season 15.

“Some of The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast have test-filmed,” a source told Us. “There are potential new cast members who filmed with Margaret Josephs, Dolores Catania and Melissa Gorga in mid-August.”

The insider added, “They want to see how the new girls work on camera with some veteran cast members from the show.”

On Sunday, March 9, Real Housewives of Orange County star Tamra Judge appeared to suggest she’s done with the show — and she’s not the only cast member who has unexpectedly quit mid-season. “It was a long run! When life gives you real problems this reality s— doesn’t make sense. Peace out … I’m out,” […]

While Teresa, 53, Jackie, 49, and Jen, 55, did not test-film, the source claimed the trio were “still in consideration to be part of the new season.”

A Bravo spokesperson reiterated to Us at the time, “No official casting decisions have been made.”

Along with RHONJ, fans are eagerly awaiting any updates on the future of The Real Housewives of New York City, which concluded its 15th season (and second with the rebooted cast) in February. With Brynn Whitfield already confirming her exit following the dramatic season finale and reunion, viewers are curious who will return.

When it comes to any RHONY news coming out of BravoCon 2025, Cohen told Us on Friday to “standby.”
