Andy Reid has a love story in mind.

During his appearance on sports radio’s 96.5 The Fan with Fescoe and Dusty on Thursday, Aug. 7, the Kansas City Chiefs head coach was asked about the “one Travis Kelce story” he’d tell at the tight ends’ potential future wedding with his girlfriend Taylor Swift.

“Well there are a few I can’t tell,” Reid responded.

The hosts, naturally, playfully pried the coach an answer, to which he ultimately opened up about his star player.

“No, there are a lot of great stories,” the Chiefs’ head said of the 35-year-old Kelce. “He’s done so many good things, all the things he’s done off the field that people don’t know about, just helping people out. He’s got a big heart that way and I appreciate that the most.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the radio hosts asked Reid if he has a favorite song by Swift, 35. His answer, ironically, aligned with the spirit of the Kansas City Chiefs.

“You know what, I do have the Red album,” he revealed.

Then, Reid — who was previously the Philadelphia Eagles head coach — broke down the timeline of events on how he met the Grammy winner, clarifying that he knew her before Kelce did.

“Now listen, I knew her before he knew her,” he said on the show. “My family has been a big fan of hers, and we know her father and mother… from the Philadelphia area, Pennsylvania.”

Reid noted that her father, Scott Swift, has a love for the sport, a dynamic that bonded them from the start.

“Her dad is a huge football fan, so we hit it off with him,” he shared, adding, “Then she became this famous person, arguably the most famous woman in the world, since probably the Queen passed away.”

“She sure handles it the right way and that’s the part I appreciate the most,” he added of Swift.

As Kelce and Swift head into their third NFL season as a couple, the radio hosts asked Reid his thoughts on watching their relationship unfold since they first sparked dating rumors in September 2023 after the singer attended a handful of the athlete’s games.

“I think it’s great. Obviously, women and girls are looking at the game a little bit more,” he said. “Look at flag football, we’re talking about Olympic sports, college sports… Girls are having the opportunity to play the game. They’re loving it.”

“Not that it was all tied into [Swift], but she had a big part of that,” he continued. “And the NFL has bought into that, too, they’ve been supporting that. I think it’s a beautiful thing all around.

Reid then doubled down on the respect he has for the power couple and how they’ve been managing their relationship in the spotlight — and made clear that their love life hasn’t hindered performance.

“Like I said, the thing that I appreciate most is how [Swift] handles it and how Trav handles it. They just do it the right way,” he said, adding, “And they’re not a distraction by any means… Absolutely not, there’s no distraction because of how they handle it.”

Since the 2025 Super Bowl, the couple has been enjoying time together in the offseason, as seen in photos shared by Travis on his Instagram last month. The collection marked the first time he posted pictures with Swift on his account since they started dating in September 2023.

A source later told PEOPLE Kelce’s decision share photos of Swift for the first time “wasn’t random.”

“It was intentional,” the source said of the tight end. “They’ve been private in their own way, but this was his way of showing how serious things have become.” The source added, “They’re in a really solid place and more in sync than ever.”
