Ariana Grande attacker sentenced to jail after jumping actress at ‘Wicked: For Good’ Singapore premiere
Johnson Wen, the Australian influencer who grabbed Ariana Grande at the “Wicked: For Good” Singapore premiere, has been jailed for the act.
On Monday, Wen reportedly pleaded guilty to one charge of being a public nuisance and was sentenced to nine days in jail, according to the Daily Mail.
Singapore District Judge Christopher Goh told Wen, who has crashed other celebrity events, that his “act was premeditated” and “showed a pattern of behavior, which suggests that you will do it again.”
“You seem to be attention seeking, thinking only of yourself and not the safety of others when committing these acts,” Goh told the 26-year-old social media star.
The judge then told Wen that he was “wrong” to think his actions wouldn’t have any consequences.
“You should be mindful that there are always consequences for one’s actions,” Goh said, per the outlet.
Following his sentence, Wen told the judge that he “won’t do it again” and that he was “going to stop getting into trouble.”
Goh said the court needed to “send a signal to like-minded individuals … that we will not condone any act that potentially undermines the reputation of Singapore as a safe country.”
Last week, Wen jumped the barricade and rushed Grande, 32, as she walked with her co-stars down the yellow carpet at the Asia premiere of “Wicked: For Good.”
The man then wrapped his arm around a shocked Grande before he jumped up and down and waved to the crowd.
The “Side to Side” songstress’s co-star Cynthia Erivo then rushed to Grande’s defense, jumping between her and Wen and shoving him away.
Wen was then apprehended by the security guards and placed back over the barricade.
Erivo, 38, and several of the other “Wicked” actors then began comforting Grande, who appeared to be shaken from the attack.
The following day, Grande did not address the incident and simply thanked the Singapore fans for showing her and her castmates so much love during the premiere.
“Thank you, Singapore,” the “Thank U, Next” singer captioned a carousel of premiere pics. “We love you.”
Wen has had several unwarranted run-ins with celebrities.
He previously rushed The Weeknd and The Chainsmokers during concerts and made headlines when he ran onto the field at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup final.
Additionally, in June, Wen also crashed Katy Perry’s concert in Sydney, running on the stage with the pop star and putting his arm around her shoulder before security escorted him away.
