Armie Hammer denies Robert Downey Jr. paid for his rehab after rape, cannibalism allegations

Armie Hammer denied the rumor that Robert Downey Jr. paid for his rehab after he was hit with allegations of emotional abuse, manipulation, rape and cannibalism in 2021.
“No, he did not. He did not pay for me to go to rehab,” the controversial actor, 37, told Piers Morgan during Friday’s episode of “Piers Morgan Uncensored.”
However, without revealing many details, he confirmed the “Iron Man” star was “supportive” of him during the trying time.
“I don’t want to bring anyone else into my situation,” Hammer explained to Morgan, 59. “There are a number of people who have been extremely helpful and I’m incredibly grateful.”
After Morgan asked him for more clarification, he said Downey Jr. helped him “in the way where anyone in Hollywood who suffers from any sort of addiction issues, whether it be alcohol or process addiction or drugs, decides to get sober, that guy will find you, and he will help you.”
Downey Jr. spent 15 months in prison for drug and weapon charges stemming from the late 1990s before he became an Oscar-winning actor.
Hammer also revealed the best advice the 59-year-old actor gave him was, “Sit down. Shut up. Everything’s gonna be okay.”
Reps for Downey Jr. did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
In July 2022, Vanity Fair reported Hammer checked into a Florida rehab center for help with drug, alcohol and sex issues.
The year prior, an insider told The Post that the “Social Network” star would “run around” on his ex-wife, Elizabeth Chambers, during alcohol-fueled escapades. She filed for divorce in 2020 after 10 years of marriage.
During his chat with Morgan, Hammer speculated that he would have died from his substance abuse issues if the several allegations against him hadn’t come to light.
“That’s how these things go. This much is enough. Then it’s not. Then this much is enough. Then it’s not,” he said of his addiction. “It’s dopamine. It’s you know, getting those hits in your brain.”
He also point-blank addressed the allegations that he has a cannibalism fetish.
“You know what you have to do to be a cannibal? You have to have actually eaten someone,” he quipped.
In addition, he once again denied sexually abusing his former girlfriend and affair partner Effie Angelova, who accused him of “violently” raping her in 2021. He did, however, say he branded his ex Paige Lorenzo with a knife — but insisted there was no blood drawn.
Following the cannibal and rape claims, plus a “House of Hammer” documentary detailing the allegations and his family history, the “Call Me By Your Name” star has remained largely out of the spotlight.
Despite this, he confirmed on Monday’s episode of the “Club Random” podcast that he has “never been happier.”
He also called his cancellation “pretty great.”
“It’s incredibly liberating because so much of my life leading up to there was being preoccupied with how I was perceived, which now you don’t have to care about,” he noted.
