Barron Trump communicates with college pals via Xbox, rather than give out phone number: source

He’s gaming the system.
We hear that Donald and Melania Trump’s son Barron, 19, has a new mode for talking with college pals at NYU.
It was previously reported that the Trump scion, who is constantly followed by Secret Service agents on campus, had been asking peers to talk online via Discord, the chat app for gamers.
We hear that he’s now talking with friends on another gaming platform, Xbox.
“He has added it to his repertoire,” says the source. “It’s his communication platform of choice.”
TMZ had reported that Trump “hardly exists” on campus — moving in and out of class quickly and surrounded by Secret Service — making it hard for him to make friends like a normal college student.
Our source tells us that the 6-foot-7 freshman connects via gaming platforms because he cannot give out his phone number due to security reasons, and to keep his number from getting out to the public.
“It’s his work around,” says the source. “He’s still trouble shooting.”
When it comes to his personal number, the source explains that giving it out, “creates more trouble than it’s worth. If people get the number, they would give it out and then a million people would be calling non stop. You’d have to change the number constantly and it’d become a merry-go-round.”
We hear that Trump is not talking to strangers on the platform, and only gives his gaming info to people he personally knows.
“It’s gamer bro culture, they ask each other for their gamer tag,” says the source. “He knows the people.”
Xbox allows users to send text messages, and also use voice chat.
President Trump has previously lauded his son’s technical prowess.
In March he told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham: “I turn off his laptop, I said, ‘Oh good,’ and I go back five minutes later, he’s got his laptop. I said, ‘How’d you do that?’”
Apparently his son replied, “‘None of your business, Dad,’” the president related.
“He’s got an unbelievable aptitude in technology,” Trump said.
A rep did not immediately get back for comment.
