Beyonce’s Mom Tina Knowles Reacts to Viral Fan Sydney Hardeman’s Death by Suicide: ‘So Sad’
Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles, is sharing her condolences after fan Sydney Hardeman’s death at the age of 25.
“So sad to hear the news that this angel has gone to be with the lord,” Knowles, 71, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, November 15. “My Love goes out to her family and friends, and all the beehive members that knew and loved her. I remember the video that went viral of her expression at Coachella and all the photos after that I’ve seen.”
Knowles concluded, “I didn’t know her personally, but I feel a real sad sadness today at this loss of this young beautiful woman. My prayers up for her family.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️🌹🌹.”
Alongside the message, Knowles shared a tribute video for Hardeman — which included a clip of the fan at Beyoncé’s 2018 Coachella concert. “Rest in Heaven, Sydney — one of our beloved Beyhive,” Knowles captioned the video.
Sydney’s mom, Jamie Hardeman, confirmed her death to TMZ on Saturday, telling the outlet her daughter died by suicide. At the time of her death, Sydney was engaged and planning a wedding for April 2026.
Sydney’s family told the outlet that they observed a “difference in her mood” after the death of her grandfather. Her loved ones noted that they are “still trying to figure out why she took her own life.”
While reflecting on Sydney’s life, Jamie shared a message for other fans of Beyoncé.
“You guys are young, and you are excited, you guys haven’t gotten to the good part,” Jamie told TMZ. “Lean on your village, Sydney had a huge village … sometimes you just need to be vulnerable to the people around you so they can help you. Parents are here to support you. It’s OK to be down, it’s normal, you haven’t gotten to the good part yet. Please keep going.”
Jamie continued that Sydney “never meant to leave you. She loved all of you. In her name, make sure you guys are OK and find the support when you need it.”
Sydney went viral in 2018 when she traveled with her brother and best friend to see Beyoncé perform at Coachella and had a shocked response to the singer’s set — a response that was later featured in the documentary Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé.
While recalling the moment during an interview with Buzzfeed in 2019, Sydney said, “I was expecting to see myself because I remember the cameraman being in my face the whole time, but I was so happy to be shown because it means Beyoncé knows my face exists.”
In the wake of Sydney’s death, a GoFundMe has been created to support her family.
“We’re creating this fundraiser to honor Sydney’s memory. Donations will go towards minority scholarships and for Sydney’s salvation foundation that is currently in the works to support mental health initiatives and suicide prevention of people of all ages and walks of life and that her legacy lives on forever,” the GoFundMe read. “Our dearest friend and loved family member, Sydney Hardeman, passed away unexpectedly, leaving all of us heartbroken. Sydney was one of those rare people who brought light and laughter everywhere she went, confident, hilarious, endlessly kind, and full of life. She was an incredible pilot, deeply educated and passionate about everything she did.”
While honoring her legacy, the tribute noted that Sydney “made every day brighter for the people around her, whether it was with her quick wit, her big heart, or the way she made everyone feel loved and seen.”
“Sydney meant the world to so many people,” The GoFundMe read. “Her light, her laughter, and her love will stay with us forever. Thank you for helping us honor her and the incredible life she has lived.”
