It’s been a roller coaster year for John Popper.
In a rare interview on Rolling Stone‘s weekly podcast, Rolling Stone Music Now, the Blues Traveler musician, 58, revealed he has been married for just over a year, after meeting his wife, Sherri Popper, at a nudist colony years ago.
Popper said he wanted to start the interview by sharing his life update, as his Wikipedia page had “no evidence she exists,” something he said has been “driving both of us crazy for the better part of the year.”

He explained that he and his wife, formerly Sherri Fisher, first met 21 years ago, and they each went on to have their own lives.
They later reunited and tied the knot on Oct. 12, 2024.
“I met her, actually, at a nudist colony in 2003 that Ron Jeremy asked me to attend, and I didn’t realize she was his date,” he confessed. “I just knew that of all the nude women there, she was the only one with a shirt on, and of course, the eye wants what it can’t see. I wind up stealing her from Ron Jeremy at a nudist colony in Hammond, Indiana.”
He shared that he and Sherri are now a “wonderful blended family” as she has one son and he has a daughter from previous relationships.
Elsewhere in the interview, the frontman revealed that he went through a series of health mishaps, including routine surgeries for carpal tunnel syndrome, in which doctors noticed he had a heart flutter.
When he went to get that fixed, a doctor managed to nick his femoral artery, causing him to lose “about a liter and a half of blood in my leg.”
After noticing he was bleeding again two days later, he went to a different hospital for three more surgeries.
