‘Bridgerton’ star Phoebe Dynevor gives surprising reason why she hasn’t returned to show

“Bridgerton” breakout star Phoebe Dynevor claims the reason she hasn’t returned to the popular Netflix series is because she wasn’t called back.

The actress also noted that she didn’t leave the popular show by choice in her Collider’s “Ladies Night” podcast interview that was posted on Saturday.

“I just want to say I have not received a call,” Dynevor, 30, told the outlet. “And when I get that call, I will be there if I can.”

“When the first season came out they didn’t know what they needed to put in place,” she explained.

“So we were like the ones that got away I think, in a certain way,” she said, referring to herself and her ex-co-star Regé-Jean Page. “But like we would — I can only speak for myself — I would always come back if I was asked.”

Dynevor — who has since landed several big roles after walking away from her “Bridgerton” beginnings — went on to express gratitude for the role the show played in her career, saying all she’s “ever wanted to do” was “have opportunities to do different things.”

“Suddenly I realized that I had these opportunities to play lots of different women,” she said. “And it’s all I’d ever wanted in my career.”

Dynevor starred in the premiere season of “Bridgerton,” which was released in December 2020, as Daphne Bridgerton. The installment followed Daphne’s fictional love story with the then-highly eligible bachelor, Simon (Page).

Subsequent seasons followed additional members of the Bridgerton family as they found love with viable suitors.

Dynevor returned for a brief appearance in Season 2, but has not returned to the show since. Her former scene partner has also previously confirmed he’s not coming back to the show.

In 2022, Page told his followers that he’s “not going back to the show” as she shared a photo featuring himself walking alongside his former co-star Jonathan Bailey during an Italian getaway.

“Bridgerton” executive producer Shonda Rhimes addressed Page’s departure in a 2021 interview, calling his decision to walk away “really smart.”

“Rightfully, he said, ‘I signed up to do this one lovely story, this closed-ended storyline. I’m good!’” she told Variety at the time.

“I don’t blame him for that. I think that he was really smart to leave the perfection as the perfection.”
