Bristol Palin is going to plastic surgeon to fix facial paralysis
Bristol Palin is looking into getting plastic surgery to fix her facial paralysis.
“I’m going to have a consultation today with a plastic surgeon in Austin,” the former public speaker — who is the daughter of Sarah and Todd Palin — said in a video shared via her Instagram Stories Monday.
“I’ve read that she specializes in facial paralysis type stuff so we’ll see what she says.”
The 35-year-old, who filmed the video in her car, asked her followers for “prayers” that the doctor can fix her left eye.
“When I smile or when I’m expressive, it closes,” she explained. “I don’t really care about my crooked mouth but my eye… so embarrassing to me. I feel like I should wear an eyepatch or something.”
Bristol added, “It looks crazy, and I just feel like I can’t even smile because it just closes.”
Bristol noted that she’s hopeful either Botox or plastic surgery can fix her condition, which she’s been dealing with for over a year.
“So we’ll see. Maybe there’s some options. Maybe she can help with this eye or just the overall symmetry,” she added.
A few hours later, the “Dancing With the Stars” alum told fans in a follow-up video that her “appointment went well” and that she’d share more updates soon.
Bristol first revealed her facial paralysis in January 2025, claiming it was caused by a neurological disorder “brought on by stress.”
The “Teen Mom OG” star explained that her “entire left side of my face was numb and just paralyzed” and she couldn’t even blink her eye.
She subsequently underwent a CT scan, had tests done and was prescribed “steroids and other medications,” but the paralysis didn’t go away.
“Nothing came back, they think it’s just a case of Bell’s palsy maybe brought on by stress or lack of sleep… I think it was brought on by stress,” she explained.
On the first anniversary of her paralysis, Bristol described the ways her life has improved since the condition started — including feeling that she got on the path “God called [her] to.”
“We are not called to carry so much and I can’t call myself a Christian and still try to control and be a perfectionist in so many areas of my life,” she said in January, noting that the facial paralysis has forced her “to live a much healthier” life.
“So releasing that all back to God has freed me up.”
