Bunnie Xo details brutal toll that Jelly Roll divorce has taken on her
Bunnie Xo revealed that her divorce from Jelly Roll took an extreme physical toll on her.
“There was moments when my team had to pick me up off the floor and give me IVs,” she said on Thursday’s episode of Jenna Bush Hager’s “Open Book” podcast, noting that she “wasn’t eating” after the exes split in May.
“I was eating baby food to get by. I lost 20 pounds,” Bunnie, 46, shared, before joking, “Heartbreak, man, it’s the best freaking diet.”
Bunnie, whose real name is Alisa DeFord, was married to Jelly Roll, 41, for nearly ten years before the Grammy Award-winning singer filed for divorce on May 18.
They settled their divorce in July, Page Six confirmed at the time.
Bunnie explained on Bush Hager’s podcast that she wants to come out of her divorce stronger than ever.
“That’s all you can do. When life hands you lemons, make freaking lemonade,” she said, before clarifying that she doesn’t want people to think she’s “out here acting like nothing doesn’t hurt.”
“Yeah, it hurt,” she continued. “And I talked about it and I let viewers in and I let them know on my podcast.”
Bunnie previously opened up at length about her split from Jelly on her “Dumb Blonde” podcast, but she deleted the June 18 episode because, as she told Bush Hager, she “didn’t want to live in it”
“I said what I needed to say. I made a shitload off of it,” she shared. “If I was gonna do it for money, I would’ve left it up. Every time I went to my YouTube, I didn’t want to see that.”
Bunnie added, “And I also don’t want to be the freaking poster child for divorce. There’s nothing hot about that. It’s a very devastating situation that anybody ever has to go through. Families get broken up. Hearts get broken. So it’s time to move on.”
The “Stripped Down” author also noted that she was her “own person” and could “stand on my own two feet” during her marriage.
“So I don’t see why I couldn’t continue to stand on my own two feet and not have to dwell in that space of emotion,” she said.
During her deleted podcast episode, Bunnie revealed the exes had a final argument on Mother’s Day when she encouraged Jelly to “file the f–king divorce papers.” However, she admitted she was “speaking out of anger and frustration” and didn’t actually want to break up.
Bunnie also revealed she and Jelly were still planning on “having a baby together” after her grueling IVF journey.
Jelly, meanwhile, has been much quieter about the divorce, though he did tell fans at a June concert in Saratoga Springs, New York, that he and Bunnie “will always be best friends.”
The singer has been much more vocal about his weight loss since the split.
