Cardi B launches haircare line, says she’s not in ‘competition’ with Beyoncé or Rihanna
Cardi B isn’t concerned that she’s another celebrity entering the beauty industry.
The 33-year-old is launching a new haircare line, Grow-Good Beauty, on April 15, and appeared on “Aspire” with Emma Grede Tuesday to chat about her newest venture.
Cardi was asked about the “saturated” market, as Grede — who has started multiple brands with the Kardashian family — added, “Did you ever sit there and think, okay, you’ve got Tracee [Ellis Ross] with Pattern Beauty, Beyoncé with Cécred, Rihanna with Fenty… there’s a lot of competition…?”
“It’s not even about competition,” the rapper quickly retorted, adding, “It’s about what’s going to have your hair growing.”
As for that “competition?” “It’s very f—king good,” she said of Beyoncé’s Cécred haircare brand. “I’m saying it with confidence.”
She also stressed that “There’s no such thing as bad hair, and ‘good’ hair don’t mean a certain texture. All hair is good.”
Cardi’s own brand was born out of fan’s curiosity about her DIY routine.
In 2020, she went viral for her hair mask that used home ingredients such as avocado, eggs, mayonnaise and more. In 2022, she shared that she washes her hair with boiled onion water.
It appears that Grow-Good was inspired by her all-natural routine; avocado and banana are featured in her products and the site cites “heritage rituals passed down through her Dominican family” as inspiration.
The brand sold out it’s pre-order with all products — including a shampoo, conditioner, serum, hair mask and more — available for less than $20.
