Channing Tatum details ‘painful’ demise of Jenna Dewan marriage in rare comment

He’s stepping up and taking accountability.

Channing Tatum gave rare insight into his divorce from Jenna Dewan — including how it affected their now-12-year-old daughter, Everly — in a new interview.

“It’s in the past. But it’s really tough not to have your daughter half the time,” the “Step Up” star told Variety, while discussing how he can personally relate to his latest movie role.

“I wish I could just have her all the time.”

In his upcoming film, “Roofman,” Tatum portrays Jeffrey Manchester, who misses his daughter after spending time in prison.

The “Dear John” star, 45, finalized his divorce with Dewan, 44, in September 2024. They agreed to joint legal and physical custody of Everly and to privately meet with a judge if there were conflicts over child support.

The legal matters took six years to come to an end, however, in part because of the exes’ dispute over Tatum’s “Magic Mike” profits, which the latter began earning while he was still married.

“Jenna and I are good now, but it was a painful break to have that fall apart, especially being so young,” Tatum recalled.

“We tried to keep it together, tried for a year and a half, but we knew it was … Not to go into all that.”

Tatum also shared with the publication just how instrumental therapy was for him, stating, “I don’t care how you grew up! I think everybody needs therapy.”

The former “Step Up” co-stars have both moved on romantically following their split, however.

Tatum dated Zoë Kravitz for three years and the pair was even engaged before breaking up last year.

The “Blink Twice” star is now dating model Inka Williams, with whom he recently went Instagram-official.

Dewan, for her part, has been engaged to Steve Kazee since 2020. They share two children: son Callum, 5, and daughter Rhiannon, 1.
