‘Danny Go!’ star Daniel Coleman shared details of son Isaac’s health ‘decline’ in final post before death
“Danny Go!” star Daniel Coleman laid out the details of his son Isaac’s heartbreaking illness in his final post before his death at 14 years old.
The YouTuber took to Instagram on April 23 to share a collection of tender family photos alongside his wife Mindy and their sons, Isaac and Levi.
“First family photos in a long while! Thank you so much @blueamberphoto for capturing these…and for the bonus costume session Isaac was determined to get 🩵,” he captioned the pics.
At the time, Daniel told his followers he hadn’t updated them on Isaac’s battle with Stage 3 mouth cancer “in a bit” because it was “still difficult for me to process and talk about.”
“The high-level update is that his cancer has continued to spread aggressively and his energy levels have dropped very low,” he added. “We’re in the midst of a short palliative radiation round right now to slow down the growth of a large mass under his right eye, but we’ve shifted into a comfort-focused approach with him overall.”
Daniel divulged that his son had a hospice team “to help manage the pain” and that the family was “just doing our best to make each day as enjoyable and restful as possible for him.”
While he acknowledged that he and his wife “are heartbroken watching him decline, knowing how frustrating and scary this must be for him,” he wrote that they were “trying to hold it all together & keep soaking up the time we still have with our boy.”
The family photos included one in which Daniel embraced Isaac and kissed his son on the forehead as he smiled.
The social media star shared news of his son’s death via Instagram on Friday.
“Oh my sweet boy,” he wrote alongside two snapshots. “There’s so much I want to say, but I don’t know how yet. I already miss you so much, and the pain in my heart is far more than I can process. But looking through thousands of pictures and videos this past week, I’m also filled with tremendous pride.”
He added that his son’s “14 years were full of so many challenges, but you met them all with such grit…and you somehow kept your trademark joy in spite of it all.”
“You truly had a spark like no other, Isaac! Remembering how loved you were and how full of life your time here was gives me great comfort. Being your dad was the honor of a lifetime.
He concluded the post, “I’m so proud of you and I love you forever. Rest peacefully, son.”
Daniel — who left a corporate job at Lowe’s in 2021 in order to turn his attention to his YouTube career, having started “Danny Go!” two years prior — married Mindy in 2009 before welcoming Isaac two years later in 2011.
Isaac was diagnosed with a genetic disorder called Fanconi anemia and had a kidney transplant in 2021. They later welcomed their younger son, Levi, in 2015.
