Dave Franco and Alison Brie Reveal They Gave Out ‘Weed Pens’ to Guests at Their 2017 Wedding

Dave Franco and Alison Brie made sure guests at their wedding had a good time.
“We wanted people to let loose and go crazy, much more than they did,” Franco, 40, told Variety in a profile published on Sunday, August 3. “We were handing out weed pens, which just led to everyone bringing home multiple to-go pizzas.”
Franco and Brie, 42, got married in March 2017 after three years together.
“We did the ceremony at home on the balcony with just our parents and our siblings,” Brie told Variety, noting that the group reconvened with friends at Los Angeles’ Pizzeria Mozza afterward for a blowout party.
“I remember that one of [Dave’s] friends who had RSVP’d without a plus one did bring a plus one. This was a highly curated situation,” Brie recalled to the outlet. “We found out the night before the wedding, [when we were] having drinks with people in town that this guy’s new girlfriend was coming. Our friend [and wedding planner] Annie Campbell told me to go to bed and not worry about it.”
Luckily, it all worked out, and the Together costars had the wedding of their dreams.
“Neither of us were ever big into weddings. Like, this was not a super important thing to us,” Franco quipped. “At the end of the day, we did it exactly how we wanted. In a cheesy way, that ended up being one of the best days of our lives.”
Franco and Brie initially met through a mutual friend during separate trips to Louisiana.
“I was working on a job in New Orleans [and] she was out there with some friends,” Franco revealed on the Wednesday, July 30, episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. “One of her good friends was and is one of my good friends. They invited me out to dinner, and I show up at dinner. I was a little bit late. They were already f***ed up. I was trying to catch up.”
At one point, the now-couple’s mutual friend showed Franco a text conversation she had with Brie.
“Basically, what she said to Allison was, ‘Hey, you should make out with Davey tonight.’ And Allison’s like, ‘Sure,’” he recalled to podcast host Alex Cooper. “Little do I know, the two of them are in the bathroom 10 minutes late and [our friend] is like, ‘I showed him the text. He’s in.’”
Once dinner ended, the group reconvened at another bar.
“Allison comes up to me and she has a beer and she says, ‘Ok, I put some Molly in this beer. I think we should share this,’” Franco added. “I’m, like, ‘Yes, I’m going to do something I would never do before but yes.’ I really think that might have been the first time I took Molly [and] we had an insane weekend in New Orleans during Mardi Gras, and I think we’re the only couple to survive after meeting at Mardi Gras!”
