Dax Shepard encourages Marcello Hernández to date Sabrina Carpenter despite long-term girlfriend

Dax Shepard encouraged Marcello Hernández to date Sabrina Carpenter despite the comedian being in a long-term relationship.

During an appearance on the “CHiPs” alum’s “Armchair Expert” podcast Monday, Shepard seemed to be overly concerned about whether Hernández was dating the pop star.

Shepard, 51, admitted to being newly “obsessed” with Carpenter, 26, due to his daughter being a fan.

The podcast host then pointed out that Hernández, 28, and Carpenter had appeared twice together on “Saturday Night Live” and she had “arrested” him at one of her concerts last year.

“If I’m you again and I’m 28, I’m going to try to date her with all my might. Are you not trying your hardest to marry her?” Shepard asked Hernández.

Hernández calmly shut down Shepard’s remarks by bragging about his girlfriend, Ana Amelia Batlle Cabral.

“I’m in a relationship,” the comedian stated. “Yeah, I’m in a relationship with a Dominican girl. She’s an architect, she’s unreal, she went to Yale.”

Hernández and Cabral have been dating since at least January 2025, making their red carpet debut at the New York City premiere of “Happy Gilmore 2” last July.

Despite there being no love connection between Carpetner and Hernández, he gushed over how amazing the singer is.

“Sabrina’s awesome and she’s really funny and cool,” he said.

Several fans took to social media to share their thoughts on Shepard attempting to play matchmaker.

“marcello had to shut him down multiple times to mention his own girlfriend. it’s a bad look for a married man to be that obsessed with a pop star’s love life,” tweeted one user.

“Dax Shepard is a f–king creep, you have daughters and a wife and you say s–t like ‘if I was you I’d be trying to date her’ ew they can never make me like that family,” another added.

“dax shepard is such a loser first that anniversary post from kristen now this 🫩,” said a third person, referring to Shepard’s wife Kristen Bell’s “tone-deaf” anniversary post to him.

Meanwhile, Carpenter was most recently romantically linked to Barry Keoghan. The “Please Please Please” songstress and the “Saltburn” actor, 33, dated from 2023 to 2024.
