Demi Lovato Reveals Her ‘New Favorite Dish’ After Viral 2015 Interview Where She Said She Liked ‘Mugs’

Demi Lovato would like to amend her 2015 viral answer for her “favorite dish.”

The 33-year-old pop star (who uses she/they pronouns) was a guest on Kylie Kelce’s Not Gonna Lie podcast on Thursday, Jan. 15, where the topic of their “dish” commentary was rehashed. 

“My newest favorite dish is this pickle mug,” Lovato shared. “It’s like a mug that looks like a pickle.”

The gift was a no-brainer for the “Sorry to Myself” performer, who stated, “I love pickles and I love mugs. And my cousin Brayden got me that for Christmas this year. It was like a pickle mug, and it’s my new favorite dish.”

Back in 2015, Lovato made headlines during an interview with Energy NRJ when she was asked what her favorite “dish” was. Instead of sharing a food they liked, the child star gave a seemingly serious response, saying, “My favorite dish? I like mugs because they’re very comfortable in your hand and they hold the hot things that you don’t have to touch.”

The response instantly went viral, despite Lovato claiming that she was in on the joke at the time.  

“For anybody who actually thinks I misunderstood the “favorite dish” question – you clearly don’t get my sense of humor,” the Camp Rock star wrote on X at the time.

As for her favorite pickle, Lovato shared with Kelce, 33, that her favorite is a Vlasic dill pickle, not in spear form, but rather the whole pickle. 

“They’re not like the movie theater pickles,” the Disney Channel alum said, prompting Kelce, 33, to stop her, saying, “I’m sorry. What?”

Lovato, who is originally from Texas, then shared that at the movie theaters where she grew up, you could get a massive deli pickle with your popcorn. 

“It’s the best snack, it lasts you the whole movie,” she insisted. 

Lovato isn’t the only Texas former child star to love a pickle. Their childhood pal Selena Gomez celebrated her birthday last July with a green pickle cake. She also ate a pickle slushie during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
