DNA recovered from glove linked to Nancy Guthrie suspect in bombshell discovery
A glove found during the search for Nancy Guthrie matches the one the suspect wore in the surveillance footage, according to an FBI spokesperson.
The FBI spokesperson told Fox News Sunday that the glove recovered contained DNA and is different from other ones that have been found at the scene.
Investigators are waiting for final lab results before uploading the DNA profile to a national database to identify the individual, the outlet reported.
On Friday, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said that authorities recovered DNA from Guthrie’s Arizona home that doesn’t belong to anyone “close” to her.
“DNA other than Nancy Guthrie’s and those in close contact to her has been collected from the property. Investigators are working to identify who it belongs to,” the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said in an update.
The department declined to disclose where the DNA was discovered.
A day earlier, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office said that they had “recovered several items of evidence,” including a suspicious black glove found Wednesday, which was being “submitted for analysis … as part of the investigative process.”
The Post was first to report news of the glove, which the FBI discovered on a dirt path near Guthrie’s house.
Guthrie, 84, was last seen Jan. 31 and has now been missing for over two weeks.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos recently admitted that the search for Guthrie could take “years.”
The sheriff promised that his team would remain dedicated to finding the elder after hitting several dead ends in the investigation.
“Maybe it’s an hour from now,” Nanos told the New York Times on Friday. “Maybe it’s weeks or months or years from now. But we won’t quit. We’re going to find Nancy. We’re going to find this guy.”
Meanwhile, Nancy’s youngest child, “Today” anchor Savannah Guthrie, will remain in Tucson, Ariz., and off the NBC morning show for the “foreseeable future” amid the search, sources told Page Six.
“The entire show and network is rallying together in support of our beloved colleague and friend as we navigate this unimaginable time,” an NBC insider told us.
Savannah and her siblings, Annie and Camron Guthrie, have made desperate pleas to find their missing mother.
The FBI has also offered a $100,000 reward for key information leading to finding Nancy.
