Ellen DeGeneres shares new glimpse at her and Portia de Rossi’s ‘dream life’ in England after fleeing US
Ellen DeGeneres gave her followers a glimpse into her and wife Portia de Rossi’s dream life in the English countryside Wednesday as she showed off the “Arrested Development” star’s affinity for horses.
The comedian shared an Instagram clip showing de Rossi expertly riding on her horse through the pastures near their second home.
“Portia’s living her dream riding her horse through the English countryside and into the village. Gosh I hope she comes home soon,” DeGeneres captioned the video.
The news comes nearly one month after it was revealed DeGeneres, 67, and the actress, 52, are looking to sell their fabulous farm estate in Cotswolds, England, just one year after they moved across the pond.
Their listing agent Andrew Barnes of UK Sotheby’s International Realty confirmed the famous couple is seeking to sell for $10 million more than the purchase price after having made some major renovations to the property.
The 43-acre farm features several structures, some of which are connected by enclosed glass walkways, and totals 16,600 square feet of living space.
DeGeneres and de Rossi were only residents in the home for a month before they moved into a much larger contemporary abode nearby.
“When we decided to live here full time, we knew that Portia couldn’t live without her horses,” DeGeneres said in a statement provided to the Wall Street Journal by Sotheby’s. “We needed a home that had a horse facility and pastures for them.”
The couple notably fled the US last November in response to President Trump being re-elected to serve a second term.
They settled down in the quiet region in South West England which the former talk show host said she’s come to love.
“It’s absolutely beautiful,” DeGeneres said. “We’re just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture — everything you see is charming and it’s just a simpler way of life.”
“It’s clean,” she continued. “Everything here is just better — the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here.”
