Everything Chad Lowe has said about fatherhood before daughter Fiona’s death

Chad Lowe often gushed about being a father to his three daughters before his middle child, Fiona, died in September 2026 at age 13.

During a December 2025 interview on the “Still Here Hollywood” podcast, the former “Life Goes On” actor shared what it was like being a “girl dad.”

“It’s so interesting because always wanting to have my own experiences and not live in the shadow or follow in the footsteps of somebody, I get the experience of being a girl dad, which is such a privilege,” he said at the time.

“And I feel bad for anyone who’s a parent … I feel like having daughters is such an incredible privilege because it takes what I have known intellectually about women and all the equality and the glass ceiling that’s there, and how it’s a misogynistic world in many ways,” Lowe, who shares daughters Mabel, 17, Fiona and Nixie, 10, with wife Kim Painter, shared.

“And now it’s taken what I’ve known, and it’s put it in my heart because I now have three daughters. So, I look at the world from, really, their perspective.”

Last February, weeks after devastating Los Angeles-area fires destroyed their house, Lowe shared an Instagram post of his family returning to what once was their home.

“Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what’s left of their home,” he captioned the post.

The “Pretty Little Liars” alum, 58, said the way his wife and daughters handled losing their home of more than a decade was “nothing short of remarkable.”

“I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege ⭐️⭐️⭐️,” he added.

Last November, Lowe took to Instagram to celebrate Fiona entering her teenage years.

“Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”

During a 2024 family ski trip to Mammoth Mountain in California, Lowe said he didn’t “take one moment of it for granted.” He added the hashtags “blessed” and “girl dad.”

As Page Six previously reported, Lowe’s daughter Fiona passed away. She was weeks shy of her 14th birthday.

“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance,” her family shared in a statement to Page Six on Tuesday.

“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time,” they added.

It’s unclear how the teen died and her family has not disclosed any other information.

Chad — who is the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe — and Painter have been married since August 2010.

They welcomed Mabel in May 2009, followed by Fiona and Nixie in November 2012 and March 2016, respectively.
