Exclusive | Sasha Obama and Megan Thee Stallion are ‘besties’ in Martha’s Vineyard, and other items from the column
Monday August 17
SASHA Obama is getting a lesson in “Hot Girl Summer” from the originator, we hear. The former First Daughter was spotted hanging out with Megan Thee Stallion at Sand Bar & Grille on Martha’s Vineyard, with a spy describing the duo as “looking like besties.” The pair apparently have a lot in common. Sasha’s mom, Michelle, even clocked it. The rapper appeared on the former First Lady’s August 12 podcast, “IMO” and she instantly felt a connection. “You remind me of Sasha,” Michelle said. “You and Sasha have similar sass levels. Your energy is so familiar.” Meanwhile, patriarch Barack has been spending his days on the island practicing his golf swing. He was spotted playing golf with Charles Phillips at Farmneck Golf Course on Thursday. Spike Lee, Dave Chappelle, Colin Kaepernik, D-Nice and artist Mickalene Thomas have also been seen on the island. Thomas joined her partner, Latham Thomas, at a gathering for the Dance Theatre of Harlem, hosted at Leslie Wims Morris’ home. Thomas’ son DJ Fulano spun tunes for the crowd including Sunny Hostin, we hear. Former “The Talk” co-host Elaine Welteroth was also there hosting a birthFUND event with her husband Jonathan Singletary, CNN’s Abby Phillip and Monique Rodriguez at The Residency.
IN the latest episode of “Hamptons Chatter 2,” Patrick McLaughlin and Bill McCuddy sat down for a freewheeling chat with Cédric Vongerichten, son of legendary chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Cédric, who has popular Wayan and Ma.dé restaurants in East Hampton, revealed that he’s wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps since childhood, recalling fond memories of being playing in the pastry room while sweets were being prepared. His personal go-to spots? Nick & Toni’s, Duryea’s Montauk and East Hampton Grill. Asked if he ever feels guilty about indulging in certain foods, Vongerichten said no — although he confessed to “maybe having had a Twinkie in college.” And when he’s out West, there’s no hesitation about his first stop: In-N-Out Burger.
PAUL McCartney and his family made a low-key appearance at Montauk hotspot Talya on Thursday night. A source tells Page Six McCartney arrived casually dressed and wearing a hat with 12 people including daughter Stella McCartney, several grandchildren, and wife, Nancy Shevell. We hear patrons respectfully kept their distance, with a source telling us the only people who approached appeared to be friends. Also at the restaurant was social commentator Alexander Hankin, who was hosting a “Dinner for a Few” that brought out Brooke Shield’s daughter Grier Henchy, Devorah Rose, Tripoli Patterson and Mia Tonnelli to debate whether exclusivity is the ultimate luxury.

NEW York Post columnist Steve Cuozzo has covered restaurants and commercial real estate for more than a quarter-century. But neither subject drives his debut novel, “Consuella’s Thrill” from Post Hill Press. The twists-packed erotic thriller, due in December, follows the Monte Carlo and Coney Island bedroom misadventures of a fetching poetry teacher who sets out to even the score with her philandering, late husband. Cuozzo laughed, “My poor heroine is too busy hiding from a monster worse than Jeffrey Epstein and juggling three horny guys to worry about fusion cuisine or square feet.”

A handwritten set of lyrics for The Beatles’ “Lady Madonna” is being offered for a staggering $3 million, according to Gary Zimet, founder and CEO of memorabilia dealer Moments in Time. Zimet told Page Six that the lyrics came from the belongings of longtime Beatles road manager Mal Evans, who was shot and killed by Los Angeles police in January 1976. According to Zimet, Evans’ personal belongings ended up in storage, where the Beatles material was eventually acquired and sold. He said Paul McCartney later swooped in and bought the lyrics, while the “Lady Madonna” sheet was sold privately and remained with its owner for roughly 40 years. Zimet also told Page Six that additional Beatles lyric material, including partial handwritten lyrics connected to Sgt. Pepper songs, is available for collectors.
NEW York’s hottest restaurant just got a little too hot. Ambassadors Clubhouse, the buzzy, notoriously tough-to-book Punjabi spot imported from London, has been temporarily shuttered after a fire broke out Wednesday while the restaurant was closed. An FDNY “all-hands” response was called, and dramatic footage of smoke and flames pouring from the entrance quickly made the rounds. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and a rep tells us they are assessing the damage and that the restaurant “looks forward to welcoming guests back soon.” The JKS Restaurants venue at at 1245 Broadway has become a celebrity magnet since opening earlier this year, with Julia Roberts, Kendall Jenner, Ayo Edebiri, Will Ferrell, and Fabolous spotted enjoying its lavish spreads.
HIP fashion brand Monses’s first-ever Hamptons pop-up drew three kinds of royalty: European royal Princess Olympia of Greece and Denmark, Hamptons royalty Sailor Brinkley-Cook and rock royalty, Alexandra Richards, the daughter of Rolling Stones’ legend Keith. The fashionable trio turned out for designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, the previous co-creative directors at Oscar de la Renta, who were feted with an intimate sunset affair at Social Life Magazine EIC Devorah Rose’s luxe Hamptons residence. Monse recently dressed Taylor Swift for her surprise Nashville appearance and Reese Witherspoon for the “Elle” premiere.
HE’S so good, he can beat you with one hand tied behind his back. East Hampton High School’s basketball players got a surprise visit last week from Knick’s superstar Jalen Brunson. Though Brunson is still recovering from a minor procedure to repair a tendon issue in his dominant left wrist and hand, the champ still managed to play a mean game. “He barely missed,” a student told GreaterLongIlsland.com, who reported that Brunson did everything with his right hand.
THINGS got wild at Sant. Ambroeus in Aspen last week when a bear cub crashed the trendy restaurant, causing chaos as it looked for food on — and under tables. A rep for the hotspot told Page Six the furry intruder, “Walked in through one of the side entrance doors into the main dining room.. . .Luckily, Black Bears are not inherently aggressive, just food motivated. They are very active right now and on the prowl for any type of food!” We’re told police were called but by the time they arrived, a brave employee had shepherded the four-pawed foodie — who left bare handed — out the back out the way it came. “It was inside the restaurant for a total of 3 minutes,” says the restaurant spokesperson who tells us there were no customers at the closed spot at the time.
LONGTIME Public Theater artistic director Oskar Eustis, 68, is set to leave the esteemed downtown institution in 2028 — but Page Six hears the race to succeed him may already be heating up. People are already clamoring for the top job, with Christopher Carter Sanderson, founder and artistic director of Gorilla Repertory Theater Company and a longtime champion of free, outdoor Shakespeare, telling Page Six he’s vying to take the reins. Sanderson tells Page Six he wants to channel the spirit of legendary Public Theater founder Joseph Papp, who built the institution around the idea that great theater should be accessible to everyone and that artists should have room to take big risks. His ambitious proposal is to bring free Shakespeare to all five boroughs and help revitalize New York’s struggling off-off-Broadway scene. The Public tells Page Six its board of trustees is leading the search this fall, with hopes that a new artistic director will be announced sometime in 2027.
