Former FBI Agent Explains Why Police Were Seen at Savannah Guthrie’s Sister Annie’s Home (Exclusive)
A former FBI agent provides an explanation for the ongoing police activity at Savannah Guthrie’s sister Annie Guthrie’s home amid the ongoing search for their missing mother, Nancy Guthrie.
“In my opinion, her home — this is in no way framing the family — is theoretically an extension of the crime scene because it was the last place that Nancy Guthrie spent time alive,” former CIA officer and FBI special agent Tracy Walder exclusively tells Us Weekly. “In my opinion that home should’ve been treated the same.”
On Saturday, February 7, law enforcement officials were seen at the home of Annie Guthrie and her husband, Tommaso Cioni. The residence was one of the last places that Nancy, 84, was seen after having dinner with Annie and Cioni on January 31. Cioni allegedly drove Nancy home. The next day, Nancy was reported missing after she failed to attend her church’s service virtually.
“I believe that it should have been searched immediately, not because they are looking at the family as a suspect but because there could have been any evidence left in the home,” Walder explains. “Did she make calls from there? If she did, who did she call? All of those things would be important.”
Nancy’s shocking disappearance has been treated as an ongoing crime investigation and potential kidnapping. An alleged ransom note was sent to multiple media outlets, demanding $6 million in Bitcoin for Nancy’s safe return, according to Tucson ABC affiliate KGUN9.
Savannah and her siblings, Annie and Camron Guthrie, have released several videos pleading for the safe return of their mother. On Monday, February 9, Savannah made an emotional video ahead of the alleged ransom’s deadline.
“I just wanted to come on and share some thoughts as we enter into another week of this nightmare,” Savannah said while thanking fans for their prayers. “We believe that somehow, some way, [Nancy] is feeling these prayers and that God is lifting her even in this moment and in this darkest place. We believe our mom is still out there.”
Savannah also added that if anyone had any information about her mother’s whereabouts to get in touch with the authorities.
“We need your help. Law enforcement is working tirelessly around the clock, trying to bring her home, trying to find her. She was taken, and we don’t know where, and we need your help,” she said. “So, I’m coming on just to ask you, not just for your prayers, but no matter where you are, even if you’re far from Tucson, if you see anything, you hear anything, if there’s anything at all that seems strange to you, that you report to law enforcement.”
The following day, FBI director Kash Patel released several photos and videos of a potential suspect in Nancy’s disappearance. The black-and-white images showed a person standing in the entrance of Nancy’s home wearing a ski mask. The individual first attempted to obscure a security camera with a bush before dismantling the camera entirely.
“Additional recovered images from the same camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance, including two videos of the individual,” the FBI Director wrote via X on Tuesday, February 10. “Anyone with information, please contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or visit http://tips.fbi.gov.”
Savannah subsequently reposted a clip via Instagram and wrote, “Someone out there recognizes this person. We believe she is still out there. Bring her home. Anyone with information, please contact 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department 520-351-4900.”
