Former Spice Girl Mel C weighs in on Victoria Beckham’s family drama, says she parents ‘very differently’

Melanie “Mel” C” Chisholm is thankful she raised her daughter out of the spotlight amid her Spice Girls bandmate Victoria Beckham’s family feud with son Brooklyn.

The singer spoke about her 16-year-old daughter, Scarlett, and said the teenager has no plans to follow into her footsteps in the music industry.

“So relieved!” Chisholm admitted in an interview with the Sunday Times published Saturday.

“It’s so hard to be in the shadow of a parent who’s had success,” she continued. “The thing is, with Scarlett, she’s not in the public eye. I made that conscious decision when she was a baby.”

While Chisholm didn’t name Victoria, she referenced friends who went the opposite route.

“Obviously I have friends who handle it very differently, each to their own, no judgment at all,” she said. “But for me, probably because of my experiences with fame, I didn’t feel comfortable making that decision for her.”

As for how close she is to her former bandmates — which aside from Victoria incudes Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell-Horner, and Mel B — she shared that it “fluctuates.”

“Like any friendship group,” she noted, adding, “I’ve always been really close to Emma.”

On Saturday, the beloved girl group reunited for Bunton’s 50th birthday party, with only Mel B not in attendance.

Despite her family drama, Victoria happily posed with her former bandmates, looking chic in a black suit.

“Happy birthday to the most beautiful soul @emmaleebunton I love you girls so much @gerihalliwellhorner @melaniecmusic xxxxxxx,” Victoria captioned her photo on Instagram.

The Beckham family has put on a united front since Brooklyn shared a scathing public statement blasting his parents — Victoria, 51, and David, 50 — via his Instagram Stories.

“For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family [with] performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships. … Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade,” he wrote, noting that he does not want to reconcile.

Brooklyn, 26, claimed his parents have also tried to ruin his marriage to his wife, Nicola Peltz. and accused his mom of dancing “inappropriately” with him at their 2022 wedding.

While Victoria and David have yet to respond, their other children have showed they’re as close as ever..

Their son Cruz, 20, was spotted on a double date with brother Romeo, 23, in Paris on Sunday.

Romeo and Cruz were with their respective girlfriends, Jackie Apostel and Kim Turnball, while in the City of Light during Paris Fashion Week.

Victoria and David’s youngest child, daughter Harper, 14, also showed support for Romeo over the weekend when she praised his runway walk at the Willy Chavarria show at Paris Fashion Week.
