How I Met Your Mother’s Nick Pasqual Sentenced to 32 Years to Life in Prison for Attempted Murder
How I Met Your Mother alum Nick Pasqual has received his sentence after being found guilty of attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office confirmed to Entertainment Weekly on Tuesday, June 2, that Pasqual received 32 years to life in prison. Pasqual told the outlet his legal team planned on submitting an appeal.
“I remain deeply saddened by everything surrounding this case, and I continue to wish healing and peace for everyone affected,” Pasqual said. “I am grateful to those who have supported me during this process, and I intend to remain focused on sobriety, recovery, accountability, and a respectful appellate process moving forward.”

Last month, Pasqual was found guilty of attempted murder, first-degree burglary, forcible rape, and injuring a spouse, cohabitant, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend, or a child’s parent after he allegedly attacked his ex girlfriend, makeup artist Allie Shehorn, in May 2024. Shehorn claimed that Pasqual stabbed her more than 20 times inside her home.
Shehorn testified that she had broken up with Pasqual after the alleged relationship turned abusive. She also claimed to have taken out a restraining order against the actor before the incident.
“I locked the door, and he just started punching holes in that door and broke that open,” she recalled per ABC News. “And I just ran into the bathroom because I thought there’s another lock on that door.”
Pasqual was arrested after being detained at the U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint in Texas.
After sustaining her injuries, Shehorn’s friends created a GoFundMe page to raise money for her medical expenses. Her friends reacted to Pasqual’s verdict in an update on the fundraiser.
“This verdict does not erase the trauma or the long road of recovery ahead, but it is an important step toward accountability and healing,” organizer EmilyMacDonald wrote on the page in May. “To everyone who has supported Allie through this journey — whether through donations, messages, prayers, or simply standing by us — thank you. Your support has carried us through some of the darkest moments of the last two years. This community and every person who showed up for us has meant more than we could ever express. From visiting Allie in the hospital, to helping with her recovery, connecting us with resources, donating to the GoFundMe, and showing up in court — I cannot express how much each and every one of you has helped us get to this day.”
Pasqual was best known for his appearance on How I Met Your Mother season 7 where he played a character named Will. He also has small roles in the films Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire and Jobs.
