How the Kennedys felt about Daryl Hannah after JFK Jr.’s ex slams ‘Love Story’ portrayal

John F. Kennedy Jr.’s cousin says Daryl Hannah’s controversial portrayal on “Love Story” is completely fabricated.

Douglas Kennedy — who has not watched the FX series — exclusively tells Page Six that the show’s take on Hannah is “unfortunate.”

“Daryl Hannah was great,” he says. “Whenever I saw her, she was very sweet and had [John’s] best interests at heart. I think that’s a misrepresentation.”

As for Carolyn Bessette — JFK Jr.’s wife who perished alongside him and her sister Lauren on the ill-fated July 1999 flight — viewers watched as she has struggled to feel accepted by her sister-in-law, Caroline Kennedy, and family matriarch, Ethel Kennedy.

But Douglas, the 10th child of Robert F. Kennedy and his wife, Ethel, tells Page Six, “Everybody around Carolyn loved Carolyn.”

“It’s difficult to capture the intricacies of people’s lives in movies or television,” he continues. “If you know people, these types of things often fail in capturing the essence of who people were.”

“John was the leader of my generation,” he adds. “He was irreplaceable.”

Hannah — played by actress Dree Hemingway on the show — broke her silence on the representation of their relationship in a scathing essay in the New York Times Friday.

The “Splash” actress claims the character is depicted as “irritating, self-absorbed, whiny and inappropriate” on the Ryan Murphy-produced show.

“The character ‘Daryl Hannah’ portrayed in the series is not even a remotely accurate representation of my life, my conduct or my relationship with John,” Hannah, 65, insisted. “The actions and behaviors attributed to me are untrue.”

On the show, JFK Jr.’s sister, Caroline Kennedy, and his mom, Jacqueline Onassis Kennedy, appeared displeased by his relationship with the actress.

The actress then said of the show’s inconsistencies with real life, “I have never used cocaine in my life or hosted cocaine-fueled parties. I have never pressured anyone into marriage. I have never desecrated any family heirloom or intruded upon anyone’s private memorial.

“I have never planted any story in the press. I never compared Jacqueline Onassis’ death to a dog’s.”

She added how “appalling” it is for her to have to “defend” herself against the series.

Hannah penned that she has “received many hostile and even threatening messages from viewers who seem to believe the portrayal is factual.”

“My silence should not be mistaken for agreement with lies,” she continued. “Apparently, my discretion makes me a target.”

JFK Jr. and Hannah dated on and off from 1988 to 1994.

The series covers Kennedy Onassis’ 1994 death, which occurred around the same time as the passing of Hannah’s dog.

Kennedy Jr. was walking her dog in Central Park when the pooch managed to get loose and was killed by a car.

“JFK Jr.: An Intimate Oral Biography” claims Kennedy Jr. was “deeply resentful” Hannah made him come to her dog’s funeral in Los Angeles while his mom was dying of cancer in New York.

A scene also shows drug use in Kennedy Jr.’s NYC apartment, prompting an argument between the on-again, off-again couple.
