Kevin Federline breaks silence on Britney Spears’ DUI arrest
Kevin Federline is concerned that his ex-wife Britney Spears’ DUI arrest will not be the last of her struggles.
The former backup dancer broke his silence on the incident Friday with a statement from his lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan.
“Kevin hopes for the best for Britney and if help is necessary, he hopes that she will neither resist it or those who are attempting to work with her,” the statement obtained by TMZ reads. “The concern is whether this is just a one off or a one more.”
Kaplan also claimed he has been in communication with Spears’ lawyer since her arrest but that he and his client don’t have any more knowledge than what has been reported.
Shortly after the pop star’s arrest, a source close to her exclusively told Page Six that it was Federline’s tell-all memoir that ultimately led to her run-in with the law.
The source claimed that his book, “You Thought You Knew,” sent Spears into a “downhill” spiral ever since its release in October 2025.
“But the truth is, this has been going on for a while. Her behavior has become increasingly erratic in recent months. She goes from being fine to being not.”
The insider continued, “It was the Kevin book that really sent her over the edge, and it’s been downhill from there. It really impacted her emotionally.”
Spears, 44, was arrested for driving under the influence after she was spotted swerving her BMW in and out of traffic on Wednesday evening.
The “Toxic” songstress was believed to be under the influence of a cocktail of drugs and alcohol and underwent field sobriety tests before being taken to a hospital to have her blood alcohol content determined.
She was booked at 3:02 a.m the next day and released three hours later. Spears is set to appear in court on May 4.
An insider confirmed to Page Six that an unknown substance was found inside Spears’ BMW and is currently in a lab for testing.
Her arrest comes five months after Federline’s book was released in which he made shocking claims about her alleged drug use, abuse and infidelity.
The DJ claimed that she did cocaine while breastfeeding their two sons and often displayed “erratic behavior” like standing in their sons’ doorway at night holding a knife.
Spears has denied all of Federline’s allegations and accused her ex-husband of making a “profit off [her] pain” with his memoir.
Days after Federline’s book was released, Spears was seen swerving after going to a Thousand Oaks restaurant for a night out with a friend.
The next month, she sparked concern when she was caught leaving another restaurant with a Champagne flute in hand — though she did not get behind the wheel.
In the weeks leading up to the arrest, the Grammy winner made a telling change when she fired her sobriety coaches and security guards.
