Influencer Serena Kerrigan Recalls Being ‘Mortified’ After Taylor Swift Turned Down Her Card Game
Influencer Serena Kerrigan is struggling to shake off her awkward encounter with Taylor Swift.
Kerrigan, 31, opened up about the time Swift, 35, turned her down when she offered a free copy of one of her Let’s F***ing Date card games during her Monday, June 23, appearance on iHeartRadio’s “Casual Chaos” podcast with Gia Giudice.
“Recently, [I] went to a restaurant and I heard that Taylor Swift was there. And I was like, ‘I have to give her my card game,’” Kerrigan explained. “And so [my boyfriend] Felix [Levine] was at home, and he put my card game in an Uber package. I left the restaurant. Millions of paparazzi, fans, were already waiting outside.”
Kerrigan continued, “So I was like, ‘OK, she’s here.’ I grabbed the card game and I’m sitting there. And we went to The Corner Store, eating everything, drinking everything, everyone’s filing out of the restaurant.”
The Older, Hotter, Wiser actress said she saw Swift, her boyfriend Travis Kelce, close friend Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds exiting the restaurant and waited for them to pass by her so that she could shoot her shot with the card game.
“I literally was like, ‘Hi, I’m such a fan. And I created this card game. I think you would really love it.’ And she literally looked at it and she goes, ‘Oh, my God, thank you so much. But no, thank you. But thank you,’” Kerrigan said. “Like, it was so sweet. I don’t think she could take it from me. … There could have been like poison. It looks like a cigarette.”
Kerrigan added that although Swift’s response to the card game was “so sweet,” she felt “mortified” to hear the pop star turn her down.
“I was like, ’Oh my God, I put her in this position where she had to say no.’ But then, I got over it because it’s such an iconic story for the plot. Who cares that she said no?” Kerrigan added. “And by the way, I kept the game that she rejected. One day I’m going to meet her, and I’m going to be like, ‘Funny story,’ and we’re going to be besties. It’s all good.”
Kerrigan concluded, “I was so scared. Even afterwards, I obviously felt about, like, ‘Oh my god, rejection.’ But I was like, ‘Wait, this was literally so sick.’ And like, we interacted. You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take. I’m so glad that I did it.”
Kerrigan previously shared the video footage of her attempt to give Swift the card game via Instagram on May 18. She began the video by sharing a clip of herself lip syncing to Jennifer Lawrence singing, “And then I go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like …”
Kerrigan added in the video of herself showing Swift the card game as the “Cruel Summer” singer walked by with a shocked expression on her face. However, the clip cut off before viewers got to see Swift’s full reaction.
“Gotta shoot my shot 🫢,” she captioned the post.
