Inside 58-year-old Halle Berry’s wellness routine: Vitamin cocktail, red light therapy, zero sugar and more
Halle Berry is sharing the secrets to her health and wellness routine.
In a new cover story for Marie Claire, the 58-year-old actress said she feels “better and stronger” than she ever did in her 20s – thanks to red light therapy, daily workouts and completely nixing sugar from her diet.
“Age is just a number that they stick on us at birth,” she dished, later adding, “I feel like I’m now at the pinnacle.”
Berry told the outlet her longevity regimen currently includes “a cocktail of vitamins and supplements,” along with progesterone, testosterone and estriol.
The “Catwoman” actress also turns to temperature therapy – which stars like Selena Gomez are also a fan of – using hot and cold treatments depending on her needs.
Additionally, the former Bond girl makes exercising a part of her daily routine and often curates her training based on her acting roles. While filming 2020’s “Bruised,” for example, the brunette beauty studied jiu jitsu, Muay Thai and Taekwondo.
Berry told Marie Claire that being diagnosed with diabetes in her early 20s – and lapsing into a diabetic coma – was also the catalyst for her prioritizing her wellbeing.
She opted to rid sugar from her diet for good and cleaned up her nutrition so that she could avoid having to rely on an insulin medication.
“Sugar is the enemy,” she told the mag. “You couldn’t put anything sweet in front of me right now and pay me to eat it. I’m just not interested.”
Health and wellness tips aside, Berry also got candid with the glossy about ageism in Hollywood and why she’s trying to redefine casting stereotypes in Hollywood as she nears 60.
“As women, we get defined by [age] way more than men do and sometimes it can debilitate us. It can trick us into thinking what we’re supposed to do,” she explained.
“We have to kick that in the face and say, ’No, I’m going to do what I can do as long as I feel good doing it!’ And that will be whatever I want it to be. I get to define that.”
The former model also noted that she’s “always known” she was “more than” her face and body – despite the constant industry pressure to look and act a certain way.
“So when that [beauty] starts to go, maybe for the first time in my life, people will focus on the other aspects of me that I think are way more interesting,” Berry said.
“”It’s an exciting time for a rebirth. It’s not the time to pack it up. It’s the time to ask, ’Now that I’m free, what can I do?’”
