Isla Fisher shares deeper insight into ‘challenging’ divorce from Sacha Baron Cohen
Isla Fisher shared a peek inside her new life in London following her divorce from Sacha Baron Cohen.
When furniture and accent pieces for her luxurious new residence arrived, Fisher confessed to Elle Decoration that she was emotional about the milestone.
“When it all arrived, I did have a bit of a cry because this was my first time as a single woman, being in a home of my own,” she told the outlet of her new home, to which she retreated after the 2023 death of her father and the end of her marriage to the “Borat” star.
“Trying to create a new life from a grassroots level, at least emotionally, has been challenging, but deeply rewarding,” the “Wedding Crashers” star said. “I’m enjoying this new version of my life.”
The “Confessions of a Shopaholic” actress, 49, also divulged that these days, she prefers a peaceful atmosphere.
“I don’t need to party in my house anymore,” she told the outlet in the interview, which was published on Wednesday.
“I love to get in the bath. I’ll light some candles, bring in my laptop and put on something on Netflix. That’s as exciting as it gets.”
Fisher also shared that she “loves to be in bed,” explaining that “it’s sometimes the only place to get peace!”
The “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” actress shares three children with the “Brüno” actor, and she noted that she’s keeping a close eye on them in her new home.
“I wanted the kids’ bedrooms on my floor so that I can monitor smartphone use,” she told the outlet.
She also said that her residence needed “space for my family who live in Greece and visit me a lot” as well as “outdoor space.”
“With the Australian upbringing I was lucky enough to have, I’ve always been barefoot in the garden or on the beach, so this is as close as I can get to feeling like I’m home,” she shared.
Fisher and Cohen, 54, announced their separation in a joint social media statement in 2024.
“In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage,” they wrote at the time. “We have always prioritized our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change.”
“We forever share in our devotion and love for our children,” they concluded. “We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.”
In a July interview with Harper’s Bazaar Australia, the mom of three said she was looking forward to her post-divorce future.
“I’ve had a tough couple of years, but I’m making it through,” she told the outlet. “I’m really excited for the next chapter.”
“I’m refocusing on my career, because previously I was very much focused on my kids, which I still am, obviously, because [they’re] my true love. But I’m enjoying tackling work again.”
Fisher added that the divorce — which she and Cohen finalized in June — had allowed her to explore new possibilities.
“I’m trying to remind myself of my new identity as somebody outside of a partnership and to stay as buoyant as possible,” she divulged at the time. “Any time there’s change, it’s hard to adapt. But hopefully I’m doing an okay job.”
