Jacob Elordi was moved to tears at the 2025 Venice International Film Festival.

The actor, 28, grew visibly emotional during a standing ovation for the world premiere of his upcoming movie Frankenstein at the annual festival on Saturday, Aug. 30.

According to Variety, the applause lasted for 13 minutes, which is the longest of this year’s festival.

A video shared by the outlet on X showed Elordi embracing writer-director Guillermo del Toro and his costar Mia Goth, before looking out into the audience and bowing his head.

Christoph Waltz, Oscar Isaac, Felix Kammerer and Lars Mikkelsen also star in Frankenstein.

The film is an adaptation of Mary Shelley’s 1818 classic novel of the same name. It follows scientist Victor Frankenstein as he “brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation,” per a logline.

Isaac, 46, plays the role of Victor, with Elordi as the Creature.

The Euphoria alum spoke about transforming into his character while appearing at a press conference earlier on Saturday.

“It was a vessel that I could put every part of myself into,” he said, per Deadline. “From the moment that I was born to being here with you today, all of it is in that character. And in so many ways, the creature that’s on screen in this movie is the sort of purest form of myself.”

Elordi previously told Variety that he underwent 10 hours in the makeup chair on a daily basis while working on the movie.

“There’s so many different layers to the costume,” the actor said of transforming into the creature with translucent skin. “When he’s born, he’s wearing nearly nothing. His chest is open and his head is high. Then, as he starts to experience pain, as we do as a teenager, he starts to hunch his shoulders. And as an adult, he closes off.”

The Venice International Film Festival runs through Sept. 6, while Frankenstein is in theaters Oct. 17 and on Netflix Nov. 7.
