James Van Der Beek’s Ex-Wife Heather McComb Marries Scott Michael Campbell: ‘Hearts Are Full’

James Van Der Beek’s ex-wife, Heather McComb, has tied the knot with Scott Michael Campbell.

“Yesterday @scottmichaelcampbell and I under the covenant of God got officially married by my beautiful sister @essence_says surround[ed] by the people we love most in the world in our most favorite city Missoula Montana,” McComb, 49, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, May 31, announcing the pair’s nuptials. “Our hearts are full and humbled by all of the love that we were surrounded by. God is so good. Thank you to all of our family and friends who traveled from all over the country to be with us. Thank you Jesus the way maker miracle worker!”

She continued, “You all made it so special and a truly magical weekend that we will never forget. We are sitting here counting our many blessings. Thank you to everyone who made this so special for us!”

McComb also shared a series of photos from the celebratory event, including one image where she was seen smiling as she wrapped her arms around Campbell while at the altar.

McComb was previously married to the late Van Der Beek from 2003 to 2010. That same year, James exchanged vows with Kimberly Van Der Beek. The pair went on to welcome six children.

News broke in February that James died at age 48 following a battle with stage III colorectal cancer. McComb, for her part, paid tribute to James in an emotional Instagram post at the time.

“Thank you for everyone who has reached out,” she wrote. “I appreciate and feel all your love. I am heartbroken over the loss of beloved James. I am especially heartbroken for his incredible wife Kimberly, his beautiful children and his amazing family, Jim, Jared, Juliana and all of his family and friends who I know he loved deeply.”

Alongside the message, McComb uploaded a black-and-white photo of her hugging James. She explained in the caption that the image was from her 21st birthday and James’ Dawson’s Creek had yet to air.

“This is how I will always see James innocent, kind and pure of heart,” she wrote. “What a journey we shared over the years. I sit here in immense gratitude for the special connection, friendship and love that James and I shared that has endured through decades. I will treasure the last loving words we exchanged. James was a beautiful soul filled with so much light, love, talent, humor, depth, sensitivity, knowledge and a deep love of God that shined through him. He shined so bright yet was so humble and human. Always searching, always growing, always going deeper, always chasing things outside his comfort zone.”

She continued, “I know that James loved being a father so much and oh how he loved Kimberly with his everything. True soulmates. How she showed up for him with such grace is so beautiful and something I will forever admire. James was a blessing to all that knew him and because of his boldness to share his journey with the world so bravely is now a blessing to all.”

In the caption, McComb asked God to “please hold Kimberly, his children, his family and everyone who is mourning his loss in your arms.”

“You are the healer of all healers,” she concluded. “Thank you Jesus for bringing this beautiful soul into the world and into all of our lives. I love you James. I know you had a lot of loved ones up there welcoming you home. God bless you. Till we meet again you sweet soul you. Prayers up 🙏❤️.”
