Jasmine Mas Kicks Off ‘Delectably Unhinged” Romantasy Duology with The Emperor’s Enemy — See the Cover! (Exclusive)

Jasmine Mas has a heated romantasy rivalry on the way.

PEOPLE can exclusively reveal the cover of The Emperor’s Enemy, the first novel in a new duology from the bestselling author.

The book will kick off Mas’ An Unsurvivable Love series as it follows Zora Ravenal, a Knight Mage, Bear of the North and “the only hope of her people against the ravenous empire,” according to an official synopsis.

But she has Aleksander the Sadistic to contend with, the divinely ordained Emperor and Royal Mage, who’s bent on capturing Zora once and for all.

“The Emperor will use everything and everyone in his power to possess her, even Tarantula, the deadliest assassin in the empire’s arsenal,” the synopsis continues.

Of course, Aleksander doesn’t realize Zora is hunting them back — and both of their obsession might prove their downfall.

Publisher MIRA teases that the book is a “a delectably unhinged enemies-to-lovers arc that’s set in a world full of danger, dark magic, rebellion and vicious rivalry.”

Mas, the bestselling author of the Villains of Lore and Psycho Shifters series, has a strong historical background to help construct her atmospheric settings. Before becoming a writer, the former lawyer earned a degree in ancient Greco-Roman classical studies from Georgetown University.

A release date for the second book in the An Unsurvivable Love series has not yet been announced.

The Emperor’s Enemy will be published on Sept. 15, 2026 and is now available for preorder, wherever books are sold.
