Jennifer Lopez’s green Versace dress will live on forever!

“I have both dresses,” Lopez, 56, said during a Wednesday, May 28 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! “If you remember — if anybody remembers — I wore the one to the Grammys. I forgot what year it was, but many years ago. So, 25 years later, whatever it was. About five years ago, we did the 20th anniversary.”

She added, “I have that dress. She made a brand new green dress for me. So, I have both of them.”

Lopez broke the internet — which barely even existed at the time — by arriving at the 2000 Grammy Awards in a green chiffon dress designed by Donatella Versace. It’s widely regarded as one of the most famous red carpet moments of all time.

She wore a reimagined version of the gown while walking the runway during Milan Fashion Week for the 2020 Versace show, taking place in September 2019.

Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel noted on Wednesday that Lopez has to wear the dress “every 20 years” no matter what.

“I don’t know if the next one you want me wearing that dress,” Lopez quipped. “I’m going to make a promise right now, I’m going to wear it in 20 years, and it’s going to look good. You’re not going to hate it.”

Lopez’s iconic dress has been brought up in the zeitgeist once again thanks to Prime Video’s Off Campus series.

“It’s so popular,” Lopez said on Wednesday. “I mean, it’s a phenomenon.”

Jennifer Lopez’s iconic Versace dress from the 2000 Grammys almost never was.  “My stylist [Andrea Lieberman] was like, ‘Please don’t wear it,’” Lopez, 54, revealed in a Thursday, February 22, episode of Vogue’s “Life in Looks,” which saw her reflect on her fashion evolution.  “‘It was a dress that other people had worn already,’” Lopez […]

Kimmel explained to the crowd that one of the characters from the show, Allie (Mika Abdalla) wore a recreation of Lopez’s green dress while dancing to her song “On the Floor” with Pitbull.

“It was huge,” Lopez said. “I just found out because my team who do my socials, they called me.”

Her social team revealed that “On the Floor” was on the music charts for the “first time in 15 years.” Lopez was shocked.

“It was just like out of the blue,” she continued. “Everything has changed because people discover music.”

Lopez has cosigned Off Campus as the show continues to have widespread success. She posted a clip of Abdalla, 26, wearing the green dress on X.

“Love this shooooww,” Lopez captioned the scene earlier this month.

Abdalla has since gotten a chance to meet Lopez — and they even made a TikTok together.

“It’s a new Jeneration of party people,” Lopez captioned a video on May 22 of her and Abdalla together.
