Jerry O’Connell name-drops ’90s TV icon who ‘dumped my ass’ after ‘literally one date’
Cruel intentions!
Jerry O’Connell revealed that Sarah Michelle Gellar dumped him after only going on one date.
“We were very young, we were kids,” he recalled on Kelly Ripa’s “Let’s Talk Off Camera” podcast Sunday.
“Sarah Michelle dumped my ass,” he quipped. “Sarah Michelle took one look at me and was like, ‘I got to get away from this drunk,’” the actor, who is a recovering alcoholic, said.
“Oh my gosh. She was like one and done. Literally like one date. She was like ‘Well, that was fun.’”
According to O’Connell, the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” alum “needed a date to the Emmys” and that’s where he came in handy — but they never went out again.
“I see her and her husband, and her husband is like a black belt in jiu jitsu — so please, I don’t want any beef with these people,” he joked, referring to Gellar’s longtime husband, Freddie Prinze Jr.
“Beautiful family though. I see her in the neighborhood and it’s very fun.”
Although Gellar, 49, and O’Connell, 52, weren’t a match, they both went on to find their right partners and have families of their own.
Gellar and Prinze met on the set of the 1997 horror film “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” and started dating three years later.
They tied the knot in 2002 and went on to welcome two children: daughter Charlotte, 16, and son Rocky, 13.
As for the TV host, he wed Rebecca Romijn in 2007 and the couple share twin daughters: Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip, both 17.
