Jessa Duggar Says She’s ‘Gained a Little More Weight’ During Pregnancy With Baby No. 6

Jessa Duggar is getting real about pregnancy weight gain.

“I’ve definitely gained a little more weight in this pregnancy than with my others,” Duggar, 32, said in a Thursday, July 10, YouTube video. “I didn’t gain any weight in the first trimester, but then I made up for it in the second trimester. I don’t know why.”

She added, “I think [it] is just different being pregnant in my 30s. I don’t feel like I’m eating any differently or anything like that — and I’ve been working out.”

The Counting On alum and husband Ben Seewald announced in March that they are expecting their sixth baby. They share sons Spurgeon, 9, Henry, 8, and George, 18 months, as well as daughters Fern, 5, and Ivy, 3.

Jessa, one of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s 19 children, initially thought she would be “a little more trimmed” during her current pregnancy because of her frequent workouts.

“Most of my pregnancies, besides one, I have gained 40 pounds,” Jessa recalled. “My midwife would tell me, ‘40 weeks, 40 pounds,’ and so that’s just, kind of, my goal.”

In her YouTube vlog, Jessa said that she had already gained 40 pounds.

“I know I’m going a little bit over that, [so] I’ll probably be more like 45 pounds,” she said. “[I] try not to let it get me down. I have been getting the twins comments, though, three times in the last two weeks. People have asked me if I’m having twins, and I’m like, ‘Nope, it’s really not possible at this point that we wouldn’t know that it was twins.’”

Jessa’s whole family is eagerly counting down the days until the newborn’s arrival.

“The kids are so excited for this little baby. They all have their guesses [about the sex],” Jessa added on Thursday. “Generally, it’s been pretty much straight down the line. Boys want a boy, girls want a girl, [so] we’ll see. I hope nobody’s too disappointed. I think they’re all just going to be super stoked for a baby.”

The couple’s youngest son, George, however, likely won’t “have a clue” either way.

“This baby and George are only 18 months apart,” Jessa quipped. “It’s closer than most of our others. The first two are 15 months apart and all the others were, like, over two years. Fern and George were two and a half years apart. This is definitely going to be a lot closer in age, and he doesn’t really comprehend, but we’ll see.”
